Carole Baskin Blasts ‘Tiger King 2’ After Netflix Confirms Sequel Is on the Way

by Jacklyn Krol

Carole Baskin is not happy with Netflix after it announced a Tiger King sequel.

The wildlife rescuer released a statement regarding the newly announced second season.

“I don’t know how they put out a Tiger King 2 when Joe Schreibvogel’s [aka Joe Exotic] in jail and I’m refusing to be played again,” she said per The Hollywood Reporter. “Rebecca Chaiklin [director of Tiger King] said she wanted to ‘clear the air’ about what they did to me in Tiger King. I told her to lose my number. There is no explanation for such a betrayal and false portrayal.”

The new teaser featured Baskin walking down a hallway. Viewers then see a billboard requesting information about who murdered her ex-husband, Don Lewis. Lewis went missing in 1997 and was declared legally dead in 2002. Exotic believes that Baskin murdered him. Despite her being an integral part of the original series, she has since called out Netflix.

She previously claimed that depictions were inaccurate and that the creators betrayed her trust. Baskin alleged that they came to her with a pitch similar to Blackfish. She invites her follower to watch the new film, The Conservation Game.

“If people really want to know how the horrific and unsafe conditions tigers endure in the U.S. was started, they should be demanding to see The Conservation Game film by Michael Webber,” Baskin added. “His film answers the important questions that Tiger King glossed over.”

What Will ‘Tiger King 2’ Be?

Let’s break down the cast of Season 1 and what they’re doing today. Obviously, the Tiger King himself, Joe Exotic, is in prison. In 2020, he was charged with 21 counts: two for hiring hitmen to kill Baskin, and 19 counts of wildlife crimes. He was sentenced to 22 years in prison. Exotic is currently battling prostate cancer behind bars.

Carole Baskin does not want any part in the series, but the preview teases that she may be featured. She has since focused her attention on the new documentary and her Big Cat Rescue. Baskin previously competed on Dancing With The Stars where she lost after two weeks. The big cat rescuer even performed to the Lion King hit “Circle of Life.”

Furthermore, Exotic’s caretaker Erik Cowie passed away at just 53. He was found in a New York apartment unresponsive. His cause of death has yet to be determined. The Oklahoma native had been open about his drinking problem over the years but has denied drug use.

Finally, last month, Tiger King hitman Allen Glover was arrested for his second DUI. Reports suggest that the 58-year-old was driving erratically when he was pulled over by police. The deputy charged him with driving on a suspended license and driving with an open container of alcohol.
