After the debacle that was Mike Richards’ ascension from Jeopardy! executive producer to host, Sony decided to play it safe and choose Ken Jennings to split hosting with Mayim Bialik. And while most fans of the show loved this news, others say that they’re done with the show.

Sony chose actress and neuroscientist Bialik to host prime-time episodes of Jeopardy! and any potential spin-offs. Richards was to host the syndicated show, but Sony fired him after reporters unearthed controversial comments he made on his Randumb podcast several years ago.

Now, Jeopardy! GOAT Jennings and Bialik will share syndication duties now for the rest of the year. But a small, yet very vocal minority, say they will boycott the show going forward over this decision.

“So Mike Richards is fired because he said some offensive things and Ken Jennings said ‘nothing sadder than a hot person in a wheelchair’ and mocked an 11-year-old child. He should NOT be the host either. Bad choice,” one woman tweeted, using the hashtag #boycottJeopardy.

“We are gonna have to disagree about this #Jeopardy Crap picks. You take care, #BoycottJeopardy,” another person posted.

Some turned the entire ordeal into a sport.

“One down. Next up, the other “host” who peddles dubious science. Then, the executives who picked these people. #BoycottJeopardy #BoycottSonyTV,” they wrote.

Bialik came under fire for being the spokesperson for Neuriva, an over-the-counter supplement that says it can aid brain health. Critics say the neuroscientist is dabbling in pseudoscience.

And, of course, there were the LeVar Burton stans who said they’re done with the show unless he is giving the hosting gig. But, they might want to check with him first.

LeVar Burton: I Don’t Want The ‘Jeopardy!’ Job Anymore

Many Jeopardy! fans are still holding out hope that Sony will tap LeVar Burton to take over the popular game show. But the former Reading Rainbow host says he’s moved on. He doesn’t want the job anymore.

C’est la vie.

Burton told The Daily Show host Trevor Noah that he got wrapped up in the competition of it all.

“The crazy thing is that when you set your sights on something, you know, they say be careful of what you wish for. Because what I found out is that it wasn’t the thing that I wanted after all,” Burton explained. “What I wanted was to compete. I mean, I wanted the job, right, but then, when I didn’t get it, it was, like, well, okay, what’s next?”

Nearly 300,000 people signed a Change.org petition asking Sony to choose Burton for the Jeopardy! job. That helped get him a guest-hosting stint on the show. But it didn’t go further than that.

However, it’s led to more opportunities to host other shows.

“The opportunities that have come my way as a result of not getting that gig, I couldn’t have dreamt it up,” Burton told Noah. “If you had given me a pen and paper and said, well, so what do you want this to really look like? If it doesn’t include Jeopardy!’ I wouldn’t have been this generous to myself.”
