Matt Amodio’s impressive winning streak has put him in the company of some of the most respected winners in the history of “Jeopardy!”
That winning streak is also making Matt Amodio a wealthy man. We’re talking almost $1 million at this point.
Amodio won his 23rd consecutive of the famous quiz show on Friday, Sept. 17, according to the Akron Beacon Journal. In Friday’s episode of “Jeopardy!”, Amodio won the game with $50,400. He completely dominated the game. His challengers only scored $6,401 and $6,400.
With his win of Friday, Matt Amodio has now amassed total winnings of $825,801! Talk about making bank!
That number, of course, could grow should this Ph.D. student at Yale University continue to win episodes. His next episode will air on Monday, Sept. 20.
Hosting future episodes of “Jeopardy!” will be actress Mayim Bialik and also “Jeopardy!” legend Ken Jennings. They are expected to host the show until Nov. 5. Bialik will be the host on Sept. 20 with Matt Amodio goes for consecutive win number 24.
Unsurprisingly, Amodio has been asked to share his thoughts about who will host the quiz show while he appears. Turns out, who the host will be is not something that he is allowing himself to worry about.
“Frankly, the last thing I’m thinking about when I’m in the middle of a game is who’s hosting.”
While also making him more than $800,000, Amodio’s success on “Jeopardy!” has moved him up the list of the show’s all-time greats. He now holds the record for the third most consecutive wins in the history of the show. He recently surpassed champion Julia Collins, who won 20 consecutive games.
As fans of “Jeopardy!” are aware, Ken Jennings holds the records for most consecutive wins. He won 74 games in a row during 2004. In second place on the list is champion James Holzhauer. He won 32 consecutive games during 2019.

Unsurprisingly, Matt Amodio’s very successful run on “Jeopardy!” makes people want to know what his secret is. What has he done during his life that has led to his 23-game winning streak? What has helped him earn more than $800,000?
Turns out, Amodio’s advice is pretty straightforward.
“Read,” he said during a recent interview with the popular quiz show. “That’s the best advice I can give anybody – read.”
He encouraged viewers to read about subjects that they want to know more about. And, wisely, he also advised viewers to read about things they don’t really have an interest in. After all, how else would you learn about them?
“If you find it mildly interesting, read more about it,” Amodio also said. “If you don’t find it mildly interesting, read more about it.”
Chances are, Matt Amodio’s successful run on “Jeopardy!” will be something people are reading about for a long time.
