Jeopardy! fans can relax just a bit. The show won’t have a long line of guest hosts this year. Instead, they have two great hosts who will take their place behind the lectern. Mayim Bialik and Ken Jennings will share hosting duties for the rest of the year. Most fans of the show agree that they’re both good choices for the job. At the very least, it’s nice to see an end to the host-selection drama, even if it is only a temporary respite. Bialik will host for a few weeks before Jennings steps in. Then, they’ll take the lectern as their schedules allow.
Mayim Bialik starts her hosting stint tonight. To give fans the first glimpse of Bialik since her guest-hosting stint, Jeopardy! shared a clip of her intro online. Check out the video below.
We can learn a couple of things from the short video they posted. First and foremost, Mayim Bialik looks comfortable in her new position. Her smile and mannerisms make it look like she was born to host Jeopardy! Additionally, we see that he has some real respect for the show. She thanks Johnny Gilbert for announcing her. Longtime Jeopardy! fans will know that Gilbert has been the voice of the show for decades. This small nod to him speaks volumes about how right Bialik is for the job.
Also, it looks like Matt Amodio is set to continue his winning streak. He’s already third on the list of players with the most consecutive wins. That puts him alongside Ken Jennings and James Holzhauer in the show’s pantheon of greats. Amodio and Mayim Bialik have already established a bit of a rapport on Twitter. So, it’ll be interesting to finally see them together on the show.
Why Mayim Bialik Is Uniquely Suited to Host Jeopardy!
Few people in Hollywood are better suited for the hosting job than Mayim Bialik. First, she’s comfortable in front of a camera. She starred in Blossom as a teen. Later in life, she played Amy in The Big Bang Theory. Currently, she stars in Call Me Kat on Fox. The latter is the reason that she’ll be taking her place behind the lectern as her schedule allows.
However, Mayim Bialik isn’t just comfortable with cameras. She’s also brilliant. In fact, Bialik holds a Ph.D. in neuroscience from UCLA. Her combined education and star power make her uniquely suited to host Jeopardy!, which combines education and entertainment into one great package.
Mayim Bialik kicks off her hosting stint tonight. She will host the show until November 5th. At that point, Ken Jennings will take over for a while. Then, they’ll tag in as often as they can.
