Kelly Clarkson Sells Los Angeles Home at a Loss in Wake of Divorce from Brandon Blackstock

It appears that Kelly Clarkson keeps taking hits. This year she has publicly suffered through a messy divorce from former music manager Brandon Blackstock. It wasn’t easy for the “Breakaway” singer to cope with everything 2021 threw at her – yet she’s done a stoic job of navigating the obstacles. Now, the singer said, her Los Angeles home has finally sold. However, the property sold for more than $1 million less than her asking price. This means Clarkson is taking a $260,000 loss on the mansion.

The 10,000 square foot Encino property is stunning. It features a wine cellar, a pool, gym, eight bedrooms, 11 bathrooms and a home theater. Clarkson bought the property in 2018 for a whopping $8.5 million dollars. She listed it in May 2020 for $9.95 million, but the home inevitably sold for $8.24 million.

Though it is a bit of a loss, it’s still progress for “The Voice” coach. She’s not only battled her ex for custody of their two children, River and Remington, she’s also had to pay hundreds of thousands to Blackstock in child support.

Further, Blackstock then tried to make her responsible for his Montana home, something Clarkson outright refused. To say she’s had a tough year would be an understatement.

Opening up in an interview with “Today,” Clarkson embraced her struggles openly.

“I mean, it’s no secret. My life has been a little bit of a dumpster,” she sad during the TODAY interview in 2020. “Personally, it’s been a little hard the last couple of months. I’ve been talking to friends that have been through a divorce. I don’t know how people go through that without having some kind of outlet because it is the worst thing ever for everyone involved.”

Kelly Clarkson New Album Revealed

Despite her difficulties this year, the 39-year-old singer is releasing new music. She announced a new record earlier this month. The album will also feature a Christmas song, which draws inspiration from her divorce.

The single is titled “Christmas Isn’t Canceled (Just You)” and features a melancholy message. However, the message is still important, Clarkson said.

“Wherever you are, and whatever you may be experiencing, I wanted everyone to be able to connect to a message on this album. Each year you may even have a new favorite depending on where you are in your life. But while change can be unpredictable there is no better time of year, in my opinion, to breathe hope into one’s life and let possibility wander,” Clarkson said according to Rolling Stone.

In addition to her Christmas single, Clarkson’s album will also feature many collaborators including Ariana Grande, Brett Eldredge, and Chris Stapleton. We are all patiently waiting for this. We just know it’s gonna be good!
