“Law & Order: Organized Crime” star Chris Meloni is a mental health advocate who has openly talked about his personal struggles with the subject in the past. Now, his Stabler character is set to do the same. Coming into Season 2 of the crime drama series, the new episodes drop this coming week on September 23rd. Still struggling with a major life loss, fans will see Stabler struggle even more this season. Reports state that his character will face extreme hardship, even pushing him to see a therapist. More on that below.
‘Law & Order: Organized Crime’ Gets Dark
There’s a lot on the minds of “Law & Order” fans right now. The “Organized Crime” spin-off came as quite a surprise, and many are still trying to wrap their heads around the trials and tribulations of Season 1. After Stabler’s realizations that the majority of his past co-workers moved on from his usual presence, there was a lot to process there. Unfortunately for Stabler, “Law & Order: Organized Crime” is set to get even darker.
The first look into Season Two tells us that Stabler’s character joins the pursuit of an undercover assignment with an Albanian drug ring. Showrunner Ilene Chaiken also teases fans, saying the following: “He is not seeing his therapist right now, and by the time he finishes his undercover stint, he’s probably going to need to see her more than ever.”
What else can fans expect? What’s new? Well, Chaiken goes on to say the following: “You’ll find out Angela Wheatley’s fate, to some extent, in the first episode.” What’s more, “Law & Order: Organized Crime” plans on several “SVU” crossovers for the coming season. Season 2 also reveals the aftermath of Cappelletti, Morales, and Washburn’s actions from the first season. Bell’s character even finds herself in a partnership with her old Narco boss “with whom she had a contentious relationship.”
Heightened emotions, for sure. And this all comes after the trauma of Stabler’s loved one’s loss (murder) in the first season. How will his character possibly deal with all the stages of grief, while also balancing such a high-stakes undercover stint? Perhaps that Stabler-Benson romance finally finds room to breathe and grow. Actually, showrunners confirm his letter to her makes another appearance, so there is hope on that front after all.
Chris Meloni Unwinds
Between shooting serious takes for the “Law & Order: Organized Crime” series, Chris Meloni seems to be doing just fine. Actually, in his latest behind-the-scenes snap, the actor is glowing– and getting into some shenanigans while he’s at it. His most recent Instagram post shows off an impressive bike and “jungle gym,” as he says. The shot comes from a pretty early morning on set, 5 am to be exact.
