‘Law & Order: SVU’ Dishes Your Daily Dose of Carisi and Rollins

by Joe Rutland

In case you “Law & Order: SVU” fans needed a little sliver of show fun on a Sunday, then here you go with Carisi and Rollins.

Oh, if you Outsiders do not know these characters, we’ll take a minute and introduce you. Assistant District Attorney Dominick “Sonny” Carisi is played by Peter Scanavino. Detective Amanda Rollins is played by Kelli Giddish.

Carisi also is a former detective, too.

There’s your introduction, and now here’s a little taste of “Law & Order: SVU” from the show’s Twitter account.

Giddish has been part of the NBC crime drama since its 13th season. Scanavino has been on since its 16th season.

But their time on “Law & Order: SVU” is a far cry from Mariska Hargitay and Ice-T. Hargitay, who plays Captain Olivia Benson, has been on the show since its first episode. Ice-T, who plays Sergeant Odafin “Fin” Tutuola, has been on since the second season.

The show is part of the “Law & Order” franchise developed and created by Dick Wolf.

Its 23rd season is underway and viewers can catch it on Thursdays at 9 p.m. Eastern, 8 p.m. Central.

‘Law & Order: SVU’ Managed To Secure Most-Watched Program Status In First Episode

The “Law & Order: SVU” fans came out in full force for the season opener.

In fact, the premiere was the No. 1 show on Thursday night.

Deadline reported that “Law & Order: SVU” topped viewership numbers with 5.5 million watching the two-hour premiere.

Its spin-off, “Law & Order: Organized Crime,” finished in third with 4.32 million viewers. What secured the No. 2 spot? “The Masked Singer” on FOX with 4.37 million viewers. Yet the “SVU” fans also faced the new season by saying goodbye. To whom? Kat Tamin and Chief Garland

Tamin, played by Jamie Gray Hyder, and Garland, played by Demore Barnes, did indeed leave the show. Deadline did report that both actors would be leaving the show. Hyder joined the popular show two seasons ago. Upon confirming her departure, she says that the decision happened to be made “above (her) pay grade.”

The actress offered her own goodbye through her Instagram account.

“It’s with a heavy heart that I confirm Kat’s departure from the squad room,” Hyder said. “The decision was made above my paygrade, and wouldn’t have been my choice, but hey – That’s showbiz for ya.”

Fans are going to remember both of them for a long time to come. The show, though, goes on with characters already on “Law & Order: SVU.”

The incredible run of “SVU” has spanned many different characters over the seasons. One thing that the show’s fans are happy about is seeing Christopher Meloni back in the fold. Meloni, known for playing Detective Elliot Stabler, is playing the same role on “Organized Crime.”
