“Law & Order: SVU” stars Mariska Hargitay and Chris Meloni have been working together for a long time. They’re practically an old married couple at this point. Of course, neither of them is particularly old, and their relationship is entirely platonic.
But that doesn’t stop them from pretending to be an elderly couple when they’re feeling silly on set. “Law & Order: Organized Crime” star Danielle Moné Truitt posted a video of them messing around recently.
Now, Elliot Stabler actor Chris Meloni and Olivia Benson actor Mariska Hargitay don’t get to spend a bunch of time together these days. They are the anchors for their respective “Law & Order” shows. The franchise has embraced the potential of crossovers between the two titles, but they are still separate entities. The fact that they’re not always together means they have to make the most of the time they share. The video Ayanna Bell actor Danielle Moné Truitt shared on Twitter demonstrated some of this shared time perfectly.
First of all, low blow calling the “Law & Order: SVU” legends grandparents, Danielle. No, we’re kidding. They brought it upon themselves. How? Well, the video speaks for itself. The pair are doing a hilarious bit in the video. It’s so funny that Hargitay struggles to stop laughing.
Meloni pretends Hargitay is an elderly woman. He raises his voice when he speaks to her. “We’re shooting a TV show,” Meloni says as if he’s explaining something to his grandmother, “You’re the star.” Hargitay cracks up as she stands and feigns stiff legs, bent over at the waist.
Hargitay plays along by asking Meloni who he is when he tries to take her fan away. The whole situation is hilarious, and it’s a shame there weren’t more people around to witness. At least we have the internet.

Chris Meloni leaving “Law & Order: SVU” in 2011 was a shock for fans. His sudden exit and subsequent hiatus of 10 years left them wondering if he’d ever come back. In an interview with Stage Right Secrets, Meloni talked about how he had unfinished business with “SVU.”
“There’s a certain amount of familiarity because ‘SVU’ has been on for so long certain amount of comfort so there’s comfort there. Then I think there is a sense of being something being unresolved of how I left the SVU franchise. To start the season with the SVU and OC together, it just seems natural to me. It’s like gin and tonic. I always like jumping onto the SVU squad and playing with Mariska and the new gang over there,” said Meloni.
Both “Law & Order: SVU” and “Law & Order: Organized Crime” will premiere back-to-back on September 23.
