On Monday (September 27th) The Voice contestant Carson Peters will be taking the stage to perform Don Williams’ “Tulsa Time.” The performance is so awesome that it causes all the judges to turn their chairs.
The Voice crew took to Twitter to share the contestant’s performance clip and stated, “Which Coach will this 4-CHAIR TURN pick? Find out on @NBC’s #TheVoice with @BlakeShelton, @KellyClarkson, @JohnLegend, and @ArianaGrande TONIGHT 8/7c.”
Also in the sneak peek, The Voice judges also critiqued the 17-year-old’s performance. John Legend stated, “I heard a lot of Oklahoma references in that song. You might have an interest in being with a coach from that state…”
“Or from the better one below it,” fellow The Voice judge, Kelly Clarkson, also shared. After Peters said that his biggest musical passion is bluegrass and he’s also a fiddler player, Legend replied that his chances are getting better and better. “I’m a very fiddle-friendly coach.”
Ariana Grande then noted that while no one on her The Voice team is a country artist, he is aware that is not what the contestant is choosing. “So I’m just going that you’re amazing.”
Blake Shelton goes on to tell the contestant that there’s a lot of paths that he can take. The Voice judge does mention his influences in country and bluegrass genres. “What we gotta figure out is, which one best represents who you are. Let’s not mess around with what this opportunity is for you.”
The clip ends just as the contestant makes his selection.
‘The Voice’ Returns For Its 21st Season
The 21st season of NBC’s The Voice kicked off on September 20th. Blake Shelton, who has been a coach since the singing competition’s first season, has returned along with Kelly Clarkson and John Legend. New to the coach’s panel is pop songstress Ariana Grande.
During a recent interview with fellow The Voice coach Kelly Clarkson on her self-titled daytime talk show, Ariana Grande opened up about what her favorite moments on the show are. “I just love seeing the talent that’s on the show and getting to know these artists and working with them,” the singer declared. She then said it’s a really special experience to be able to share some of what she and other musicians have learned with these artists.
“It’s a really special opportunity to be able to share that with people,” Grande continues. “To be in that position is really interesting.”
While also admitting she broke one The Voice rule, Grande said that she is obsessed with her team and talks to them all the time. “I’ve broken every rule in my contract. I talk to them all. All the time. I’m like, Doing them. They’re like, ‘You’re not supposed to do that.’ And I’m like, ‘Sorry.’”
