‘The Voice’ Star Kelly Clarkson Reveals ‘How It Started Vs. How It’s Going’ with Ariana Grande

On a scale of friendly competition to epic roasts, Outsiders know that the different judges on “The Voice” bring it all. They are often “frenemies,” all in the name of coaching. A past lineup included Maroon 5’s Adam Levine, soulful Christina Aguilera, and No Doubt’s Gwen Stefani. As it stands, the shows’ current repertoire includes Blake Shelton, John Legend, Kelly Clarkson, and Ariana Grande.

The new coaches are nothing but vocal and the rivalries keep fans tuning in. Ariana Grande perhaps had the most to prove out of any judge by replacing Nick Jonas. She joined the classic red, swiveling chair on September 20th. Since then, Blake Shelton once fired shots and accused Ariana Grande of “destroying” his dreams back in 2016. At least he remembered her name, though. It looks like Ariana’s best bet is the alliance forming between her and Kelly Clarkson. A series of sweet snaps from Clarkson recently detailed their growing relationship. Read a little more to see for yourself!

Kelly Clarkson Digs Up Old Tweets

Since joining the cast, Kelly Clarkson and Ariana Grande embodied two peas in a pod, peanut butter and jelly, mac and cheese. It wasn’t always this way, though. There was a time before Ariana Grande’s pop star status when very few people even knew her name. Clarkson’s got the receipts to prove it.

Kelly recently dug up some old tweets that show a pure reaction to “discovering” Ariana Grande some time ago. Actually, the tweets come from 2013. It often feels like just yesterday, but we’re almost a full decade removed from then, folks. Kelly started the conversation by sharing a video of Ariana Grande singing. She wrote “Okay, who the heck is this girl” and “where did she come from?” Then, she even went on to say “wow she is killer & only 19.” The tweet made its way to Ariana who replied, seeming a little starstruck. She wrote back: “omg that’s me hi kelly Clarkson thank you ily.”

Flash forward 8 years later and now the coaches are all loved-up on one another. Clarkson’s second photo in the set shows her seated in the iconic “Voice” chair with a smiling Grande right beside her.

The Duo Teams Up For a Christmas Album

In the Instagram post, Clarkson cleverly includes some promo. After announcing “When Christmas Comes Around,” she let it slip that Ariana Grande, too, has a part on the album. From the tracklist, it looks like Ariana shines on “Santa Can’t You Hear Me.” Another feature comes from country legend Chris Stapleton. He appears to help Clarkson sing “Glow.”

The pre-order is live now, with the official album drop set for October 15th.
