Fall TV is taking over the screens.
Several shows just released the very first episode of brand new seasons. That includes shows like “The Voice,” “FBI,” “NCIS,” “NCIS: Hawai’i,” “Dancing With the Stars,” “9-1-1,” and “The Resident.”
At this time of year, the list of TV shows to watch gets longer and far more interesting. That also doesn’t include all the shows and movies that are being added to different streaming services over the next few months.
As for Tuesday nights on TV right now, “The Voice” seems to be leading the pack. The popular singing competition with Kelly Clarkson, Blake Shelton, John Legend, and Ariana Grande as coaches had a two-night premiere on Monday and Tuesday.
‘The Voice’ and ‘FBI’ Franchise Performance and Ratings
According to TV Line, the show had 7.1 million viewers and a 1.1 rating for the second night of “The Voice” Blind Auditions.
As for “FBI,” a popular drama created by Dick Wolf, it also had a really good performance on Tuesday night. It improved from its previous demo rating and viewer total since the May finale. The show is totaling in at 6.8 million viewers and a 0.7 rating. The spinoff series “FBI: Most Wanted” is doing even better than the mothership series. It had 6.9 million viewers and a 0.6 rating.
Meanwhile, “FBI: International” had 6.2 million and a 0.6 rating.
“The Voice” and the “FBI” universe will have to continue to compete as more shows enter the fall TV schedule. Some of which already include “The Resident” and “Bachelor in Paradise.”
If you’re beyond excited for your favorite shows to air once again or for new shows to figure out how they mix into the melting pot of TV, there’s certainly a lot to look forward to. “The Wonder Years” reboot will premiere on ABC on September 22. “Survivor” is also airing its highly anticipated Season 42 on CBS that night.
Other highly anticipated shows soon returning are “Law & Order: SVU” and “Law & Order: Organized Crime” over on NBC on September 23.
Keep an eye out for “Bob’s Burgers,” “Celebrity Wheel of Fortune,” “Family Guy,” “The Good Doctor,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” and “Big Sky” all premiering by the end of September.
Dick Wolf Talks Airing ‘FBI’ Shows on Same Night
“FBI” is offering a really interesting experience for its viewers. All three series air on the exact same night, meaning writers have a whole night of storytelling to work with.
We caught a glimpse of the power of having the show on the same night when there was a massive three-part crossover event last night. Dick Wolf said at the CBS TCA Summer Press Tour that stacking the shows helps people give into their new binge-watching patterns.
“When you stack these shows, you know, you can look at research that tells you that everybody talks about binges, and people bingeing series … And you can get through a whole bunch of episodes, but the average binge is three hours. That seems to be where people are most comfortable if they’re going to sit down and watch something,” Wolf said at the event.
It’s a popular new strategy on live TV. “Chicago Med,” Chicago Fire,” and “Chicago P.D.” dominate Wednesday nights. “Law & Order” also tried something similar on Thursday nights, but one of its spinoffs was cut loose.
