They are one of TV’s most beloved teams, delighting audiences almost daily for nearly four decades with their well-timed banter and smooth co-hosting abilities. However, Wheel of Fortune’s Pat Sajak and Vanna White had quite the awkward exchange late this week. And fans quickly took notice, flooding Twitter with their thoughts and opinions regarding what some called Vanna White’s “#metoo moment.”

Meanwhile, another Twitter-related story was hitting big-time while all of this continued trending on the popular social media website. This big news? Elon Musk’s offer to purchase Twitter for over $40 billion. And, all of this was certainly not lost on Sajak this afternoon. The longtime Wheel of Fortune host took to Twitter to make a quip about the “kind, polite and respectful give-and-take” Twitter users often display. But, not really, of course.

“I don’t care who buys Twitter,” Pat Sajak says in his Saturday afternoon Twitter post.

“As long as we never lose the spirited, but kind, polite and respectful give-and-take for which the platform is known,” the game show host quips.

Twitter Users Have A Lot To Say About Pat Sajak’s On-Air Joke

Pat Sajak and Vanna White have always had a very comfortable and spot-on banter style on-air. The Wheel of Fortune co-hosts have been at this gig for nearly forty years. However, Wednesday night’s episode of the hit game show made some fans a little uncomfortable.

This awkward moment began when the unique profession of one of the Wheel contestants became a topic of conversation. The contestant, Ashely Fabian, tells the Wheel hosts that she is a professional opera singer. Pat Sajak then asks Vanna White if she is an opera buff at all?”

“Yes. I’m not a buff,” White responds. “But I like opera.” And, this is when things got awkward. Pat Sajak certainly could have stopped the exchange right there. However, he decided to take it a bit further, making a joke that did not land well at all.

“Have you ever watched opera in the buff?” Pat Sajak asks, adding “I’m just curious.”

And, this is when Twitter exploded. Wheel of Fortune fans turned out in high numbers, each Twitter user with their take on this interaction between the Wheel of Fortune hosts.

“I feel like I just witnessed a me too moment on Wheel of Fortune?” one Twitter user wrote on the popular social media platform about the unexpected question.

Some Fans Call For Sajak to Move on From His Hosting Duties

Some Wheel viewers were so taken aback by the question that they called for the host’s dismissal from the long-running game show.

Wheel of Fortune someone please replace this man,” one Twitter user says.

“Pat Sajak is absolutely inappropriate asking Vanna White (if) she’s watched opera naked?” the comment continues. “Are you serious? Gross.”

Another Wheel of Fortune fan notes that it might be time for Sajak to pass down the hosting gig to the younger generation.

“These are filmed three months in advance. They could edit this crap,” the tweet notes. “Please Pat. Retire. You have lost your filter. Maggie Sajak, Please, take over.”
