While the roles have been small, there have been some pretty epic guest appearances on Taylor Sheridan’s “1883.” This includes Billy Bob Thornton as well as Tom Hanks. And perhaps Hanks’ wife Rita Wilson visited him on set because the actress recently announced she would be joining Faith Hill in some scenes as the new episodes unfold.

Sharing a sweet photo on Instagram, Rita Wilson explained that the cat’s out of the bag. She stands in 19th-century garb alongside “1883” star Faith Hill as they smile for the camera.

“The secret is out—I’ll be joining my friends @faithhill and @thetimmcgraw on the show @1883official this season! Keep up with episodes every Sunday on @paramountplus to catch a glimpse of yours truly,” Wilson captioned the photo.

Variety reported that Wilson was cast for a guest role as Carolyn, “a storekeeper at Doan’s Crossing who helps Margaret (Faith Hill) decompress with some whiskey punch.”

The actress’s longtime husband and Academy Award winner Tom Hanks also appeared in an episode of the show. His role was small, but the scene was impactful. We don’t doubt that Rita’s will be anything less.

Further, Faith Hill has adapted well to her starring role on the drama series. She plays the stoic Margaret Dutton, who faithfully follows her husband James (Tim McGraw) on the journey west to Oregon. And McGraw says her matriarchal role onscreen mimics how she cares for everyone on set.

“You know, honestly, I couldn’t imagine it ever happening without her. I couldn’t imagine doing this with anybody else,” he said. “I think the scenario, the writing, the era, everything was so perfect for us together that it was impossible for us to not want to do it together. More than anything I’m grateful that she wanted to do it.”

He goes on to add about his real-life wife:

“You know, we’re working six days a week, 12 hours a day, sometimes longer than that. I wouldn’t be able to go home — if she was home, she’d be in the middle of things that she needed to do, and we wouldn’t be able to see each other.”

And while this is the first major appearance in television for Faith Hill, she is killing it as the Dutton female lead. McGraw also shared his appreciation for her as an actress.

“We get to work together. I learn so much from watching her. She’s done two movies in her career and she’s been great in both. I’ve learned how fantastic she is and what a great actress she is and how generous she is. I can tell you this — on set, she is like everyone’s mom. She is the light on set for everybody. And she’s the light in my life for sure. But I’ve gotten to see everybody else experience what I know about her which is pretty spectacular.”
