The premiere of Taylor Sheridan’s 1883 is just around the corner, and star Tim McGraw says that one scene in particular really stood out. The prequel will follow an early generation of Yellowstone’s Dutton family as they head west to start new lives. McGraw plays leading character James Dutton.

It’s an incredible experience for McGraw as he gets to star in the show alongside his wife, Faith Hill. Hill plays James Dutton’s wife, Margret, in the upcoming series. After a particularly intense scene, the couple couldn’t stop talking about it before bed.

“We were in bed last night and talked for two hours because we got so caught up in the moment that we almost couldn’t even remember it,” Tim McGraw said in a recent interview with Parade. “I told her, ‘This is incredible. How many married couples ever get a chance to do what we’re doing right now?”

Here’s How the Couple Got Involved in ‘1883’

Tim McGraw and Faith Hill are country music legends, so it surprised a lot of people when they signed on as the lead actors on 1883.

The two fell in love with Taylor Sheridan’s work when they saw Wind River.

“We were like, ‘Who the hell wrote and directed this? This is so good,’” Faith Hill told Parade.

“It begins with a song. If the song is right, then you don’t give it a second thought, because writing is a real craft that should be respected. We read the material and we were like, ‘How can we not do it?’” She continued.

Not all moments have been easy for the couple. Faith Hill explained that intimate scenes were particularly challenging. But ultimately, it seems like the two are really excited about the project. Not to mention, they’re both incredible grateful for the opportunity to work together in a new and exciting way.

They had to film on location in the sweltering heat often in the wilderness so rugged they didn’t even get to bring their own trailers. But that didn’t stop any of the cast from having a fantastic time working on the show and really immersing themselves in the experience.

“What more could you ask for? We’re working together on our 25th anniversary on an incredible show with great people,” she said. 1883 also stars Sam Elliot as the Dutton’s guide and Isabel May as their daughter, Elsa Dutton.

The show also recently added Tom Hanks to its roster of all-star actors set to make appearances on the show, and fans are really excited to see this high-budget historical piece finally come to life as a part of the expansion of the Yellowstone world.

1883 releases on Paramount + on December 19th. In the meantime, you can catch up on Yellowstone season 4 on the same streaming service.
