Need any more evidence for just how practical and authentic Taylor Sheridan’s approach to 1883 has been? Look no further than Tim McGraw and Faith Hill’s reaction to arriving in Sin City after months of filming on the expanses of Montana and Texas.
Outsider favorite Tim McGraw compared his return to the big city to stepping foot on another planet.
If you’re anything like us, you’ve had December 19th marked on your calendar since the 1883 premiere date was announced. The highly-anticipated Yellowstone prequel series is fast approaching. And what better way to kill time than by learning everything we can about James Dutton actor Tim McGraw’s experience on the show?
For context, it’s important to understand how much effort has gone into making 1883 look as realistic as possible. We know the production went to great lengths with practical effects. The choice to use entire real wagon trains rather than CGI is just one example. Creator and writer Taylor Sheridan even kept an entire team of historians on staff to ensure everything depicted on the show is period-accurate.
All of that said, it’s not hard to see where McGraw and Hill were coming from when they talked about arriving at the five-star Wynn Las Vegas hotel after wrapping up filming for 1883.
“When we walked in, it was like, wow, this is what a hotel is like? After all the years I’ve been on the road, it took a minute to adjust because we’ve been that deep in it,” Hill told USA Today.
McGraw added on, saying, “Shooting in a 60 mph dust storm on horseback through rough terrain chasing bad guys and then we get on a plane, land in Vegas and see all of these lights. We felt like it was in outer space.”
Two Country Super Stars Were Taken Aback By a Hotel After Years of Touring
Tim McGraw and Faith Hill’s accounts of going to Las Vegas post-1883 are only getting us more excited for Sunday night (12/19).
After all, we’re talking about two massively successful musicians who have probably spent more time in hotels than most of us can even fathom. Still, something seemingly routine as walking into a hotel lobby made them take a step back and figure out what was going on. A testament to the authenticity we can expect from the upcoming series? It sure sounds like it.
