By now, we all know that Taylor Sheridan is a screenwriting genius. But Yellowstone isn’t the only show occupying his time. Sheridan is currently working on other shows as well.
It goes without saying that Yellowstone has experienced exponential growth over the past four seasons. In fact, it’s the biggest thing on cable TV right now. The Season 4 finale was watched by a whopping 9.3 million people. That has been the biggest cable telecast turnout since 2017. To compare, the Season 3 finale was watched by 5.2 million viewers. Clearly, the audience has vastly grown in-between seasons.
There’s also other data that shows how popular Yellowstone has become. Using data from Parrot Analytics, we know that audience demand for Season 4 was 134% higher than audience demand for Season 1. That’s a huge jump in viewer interest. As a result, ViacomCBS is betting on Taylor Sheridan and those high audience demand numbers. Out of all of his projects in the works right now, six of them will be hosted on Paramount+. The other show has yet to announce where it will be streaming.
Taylor Sheridan Expands on the ‘Yellowstone’ Universe and More
Here are all of Taylor Sheridan’s shows that will be (if they aren’t already) available to stream on Paramount+: 1883, 6666, Kansas City, Land Man, Lioness, and Mayor of Kingstown. Bass Reeves is the only show with a platform still to be decided. In addition to those shows, there’s also going to be a TV series based on his 2016 movie Hell or High Water, which is being produced by Fox.
Two of Sheridan’s other projects are already streaming on Paramount+. Those shows are 1883 and Mayor of Kingstown. Both shows are doing remarkably well, Business Insider reports. 1883, a prequel to Yellowstone, only recently debuted in December. However, Paramount+ has said that the show is the most-watched original premiere they’ve ever aired. The show garnered 4.9 million viewers. The show scores similarly to the first season of Yellowstone with demand ratings 10.7 times higher than the average TV show.
Mayor of Kingstown is growing in popularity, too. The show, which follows the McLusky family, has been 19.2 times more in demand than the average series. That’s similar to the demand for Season 3 of Yellowstone. The show just wrapped up Season 1, with Season 2 in the works.
Thirdly, 6666 is a Yellowstone spinoff based on the historic Texas ranch that appears in the show. Bass Reeves will be about the first Black deputy US marshal in the American West. David Oyelowo will be starring as the main character. Kansas City will follow Sylvester Stallone’s character as a New York City mobster who relocates to Kansas City. For this show, Taylor Sheridan is executive producing. Land Man is based on a podcast about the oil industry. Billy Bob Thornton might star in it. Lastly, Lioness will focus on female Marines, and Nicole Kidman might be part of the cast.
