One of the most entertaining aspects of the hit Paramount Network series “Yellowstone” is the broken relationship between Jamie and Beth Dutton.
The (adopted) brother and sister do not like each other much at all. Beth’s hatred for Jamie dates back to when they were just teenagers. Finding out she is pregnant at a very young age, Beth turns to her big brother for help. They agree that terminating the pregnancy is the best way to go and Jamie takes Beth to a clinic for the procedure. Jamie learns that once the procedure is complete, his little sister will be sterilized. Nevertheless, he agrees to move forward with the procedure, and as a result, Beth is no longer able to bear children. Beth has held a grudge against Jamie ever since the incident and it will likely continue playing a role in the fourth season of “Yellowstone.”
“I don’t know fully, because I’m not in the writing room,” he says. “I don’t know what Taylor Sheridan’s doing when he is putting this all together. Even from Season 1, he suggested there was something major that happened between them. And we sort of talk of a number of things it could be. That, however, never really came up. It was a bit of a surprise. Although at the same time, I guess what the surprise was, was how it went down. I guess part of me always maybe thought there was something to do with her maybe losing a child in some way, or in pregnancy, losing a child.”
Yellowstone’s Wes Bentley Opens Up on Jamie-Beth Dynamic
The chemistry between Wes Bentley and Beth Dutton actress Kelly Reilly is excellent. Anytime we have a scene with Beth and Jamie together — it’s hard to look away. You know the drama is coming in spades when those two share the screen. The energy between Bentley and Reilly is mesmerizing and it is easy to feel the intensity and hatred between their characters.
Bentley says Jamie will have to keep a close eye on Beth in season four as she has the motivation to hurt him. The “Yellowstone” star says Beth could become a legal adversary in the upcoming season.
“I think Beth because she’s got the drive to get him,” Bentley says. “Even if she’s not as well-informed as a lawyer, I think she’s got the drive to figure it out.”
“Yellowstone” fans can’t wait to see how the Jame and Beth Dutton dynamic will boil over in season four. We won’t have to wait too much longer. The two-episode season premiere will begin in just hours.
