We know it’s not just us: These two gents look fantastic in their full Pinkerton getups. Garrett is saddling up beside Western and Hollywood icon Sam Elliott for the period prequel, 1883, and the show already has the paparazzi gunning for filming full force.
As such, star LaMonica Garrett is sharing one sleuth’s shot with fans. Because why not? It’s already out there, might as well spread the love! Which is exactly what we Outsiders came to do, too.
“Filming #1883 in Granbury the other day, we were met by a sea of people/cameras. Saw this #bts pic online, thought I’d share,” Garrett captions his post Thursday.
Within, we see the two actors in full costume as “2 of the #pinkerton detective agencies finest.” Check out the unofficial behind-the-scenes shot for yourself below, courtesy of LaMonica Garrett’s official Instagram:
“Y:1883 Premieres this December on #paramountplus,” Garrett reminds fans. And oh, are we ready.
Not only is LaMonica Garrett a great actor, but having him team up with Sam Elliott for Taylor Sheridan’s period epic feels a match of Western heaven.
It’s a sentiment Elliott himself also agrees with. The icon has gone on record recently speaking to his excitement for the project, and how much he admires Sheridan’s storytelling.
‘1883’s Sam Elliott & LaMonica Garrett Pinkerton Team-Up Promises to Deliver
“It all starts with the writing. And Taylor Sheridan is a brilliant writer,” Sam Elliott says in his personal statement amid casting. “I think the Western genre speaks clearly to both of us. The classic struggles of man against man, man against nature, and man against himself,” he continues of Sheridan.
As for the Yellowstone prequel, “It’s all there, in ‘1883,’ and I’m honored to be a part of it,” Elliott adds.
In 1883, Elliott is set to play Shea Brennan, a Pinkerton agent tasked with leading the Duttons to Montana. Casting details describe Brennan as a “tough-as-nails,” handsome cowboy with a tragic past. In the show, he has the herculean task of guiding the Duttons and fellow expansionists from Texas to Montana.
Elliott’s Shea will have a right-hand man in LaMonica Garrett’s agent. While we don’t know his character’s name yet, Garret’s past roles include Arrow, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, and The Last Ship. Another recognizable turn came as Mike Ritter on the Kiefer Sutherland-led Designated Survivor.
Of this journey, Deadline hears Paramount is also sparing no expense, with 1883 exceeding a budget of $10 million per episode. This is in no small part due to Taylor Sheridan bringing as much authenticity to the project as he can.
1883 will hit Paramount Network this fall come Dec. 19 alongside Yellowstone Season 4.
