We recently found out that actor Billy Bob Thornton will be joining the cast of the Yellowstone spinoff 1883. Safe to say that Tim McGraw is pretty excited about the new addition.

If you don’t already know, this will not be the first time that Thornton and McGraw will be working with one another. As a matter of fact, both of the men starred in the fan-favorite 2004 sports drama film Friday Night Lights. The movie, of course, follows the coach and players of a high school football team in Odessa, Texas. It also follows the community of Odessa, who is obsessed with their local team. Billy Bob Thornton played the role of head coach Gary Gaines. And as for now-country star Tim McGraw, he played an alcoolic former football star, Charles Billingsley.

It has now been years since the two stars have worked together. But Thornton and McGraw will be two of the stars on the new Taylor Sheridan-created series 1883. McGraw took to social media on Friday afternoon to express his excitement about once again working with the 66-year-old.

“So cool to have Billy Bob Thornton join 1883!!” McGraw wrote in a tweet. “We worked together on Friday Night Lights. Can’t wait to team up on this one!”

Fans of Tim McGraw, country music in general, Yellowstone, and the new show 1883 have a lot to look forward to here. Many of them hit up McGraw in the comments section.

“I can’t wait for this show!” one fan exclaimed.

One hilariously seemed to have a conversation with himself while trying to figure out who Thornton will portray on the show.

“Bad guy, right? He’s gonna be a bad guy? He really plays an excellent bad guy,” the fan said. “Oh no. A preacher? Not a preacher! That doesn’t work. Unless he’s a preacher who secretly kills people. That might… wait, Eastwood already played that character. So, who’s his character?”

Stars Like Tim McGraw and Billy Bob Thornton Will Make ‘1883’ Epic

If you are a fan of Yellowstone, then you already know that the show’s creator Taylor Sheridan goes all out. And he is planning to do the same thing for the prequel to the hit Paramount Network show.

Back in August, Sheridan told Deadline that his cast and crew will be filming the show in several scenic locations down in Texas. Some of those include Dallas, Fort Worth, Palestine, and Guthrie. And he added that they had even built an entire 1800s town in the stockyards of Fort Worth.

“Look, this is not going to be an easy or inexpensive show to make,” Sheridan previously said. “This is going to be epic and huge. And I want to tell it in the scope as if I were making a 10-hour movie.”
