Lamonica Garrett is at a new Montana location while he films scenes for Taylor Sheridan’s upcoming series 1883. And while the mountaintop set has been struggling with the elements over the past few days, he can’t get over just how beautiful the state is.
Lamonica Garrett is enjoying a day off in Livingston, Montana, today. Since he had a little downtime, the 1883 star got a chance to work out in the crisp mountain air and be one with nature. And he is appreciating absolutely everything about the Treasure State.
This afternoon on Instagram, Garrett shared a video of the new drama’s beautiful landscape. “New location. Same workout,” he said while he showed off the glistening mountains of Montana.

According to Garrett’s video, weather in the mountains can be unpredictable. And the crew of 1883 learned that the hard way this week. They’ve been filming in “mild blizzards” with “30 mph winds and 30-degree weather.”
“It’s been miserable but awesome experience,” the star noted.
Of course, the conditions will likely make the Yellowstone spinoff much more realistic. But Livingston had a warm spell today. And Lamonica Garrett is loving some mild 50-degree weather during his break from shooting.
While donning a Dutton Farm baseball hat, Garrett showed off the picturesque views of Montana. The actor is staying at a log cabin, which is in the middle of a wide-open space. And in the distance, we can see that he’s surrounded by gorgeous snow-capped mountains.
“Everywhere you go, it’s like a postcard out here,” he shared.
And Garrett’s break isn’t over yet. This weekend, he’s heading to Yellowstone park, and he’s hoping to spot some elk and moose.

Taylor Sheridan’s upcoming Yellowstone prequel, 1883, may be one of the most star-studded series on prime time television. The cast includes celebrities from all walks of fame.
The first two actors to join the series were Faith Hill and Tim McGraw. We all know them as a country singing power couple who have owned the charts since the 1990s. Sheridan also brought Sam Elliot and Billy Bob Thornton on board this year. Both actors have highly decorated careers. Elliot was nominated for an Oscar in 2019 for his role in A Star is Born, and Thorton won an Oscar in 1997 for his work on Sling Blade.
Now LaMonica Garrett has joined the cast of 1883. Garrett will play Sam Elliot’s partner and close friend.
Garrett has done a lot of work on the small screen during his Hollywood career. Fans may recognize the actor as Casey from Deliah or Mike Ritter from Designated Survivor. Garrett is also working on The Terminal List, which is set to premiere next year.
