The entertainment industry is a challenging career to break into, but lucky for us and Yellowstone fans everywhere, Cole Hauser made the cut.

Despite Cole Hauser’s initial thoughts, he has had a successful career as an actor. He reveals on The Ryen Russillo Podcast how he got his start acting in small roles throughout the 90s.

Although Cole Hauser’s breakout role is as Rip in the hit western drama Yellowstone, you probably recognize him from other films. When Hauser was only 18, he starred in Dazed and Confused, and by 22, he was featured in Good Will Hunting.

School Ties

However, the first movie Cole Hauser worked on was the 1992 film School Ties, where the actor played Jack Connors. Connors character is a typical jock who doesn’t care about performing well in school. Besides Hauser, the movie featured a star-studded cast.

“What started it was School Ties, you know. That was my big break, with Matt Damon, Ben Fraser, Chris O’Donnell, Randall Batinkoff, but yeah. At first, it’s like, ‘Holy sh*t this is working. Like I can’t believe I’m actually… I’m doing what I want to do here.'”

Once Cole Hauser broke into the industry more, it allowed him to be a bit more selective with his role choices. He reveals that throughout his career, regardless of money, he focused more on the storyline and if it spoke to him.

“You know, and then it really becomes about picking and choosing and making sure that you are doing not only what you love to do, but you are telling stories that you care about. And I think for me, it’s always been that way. There are certain shows that were offered to me, or I could have done, made a lot of money, but if it didn’t really excite me and didn’t get me up out of bed, then I was just like, ‘you know, I’m going to find something that I do love.'”

Cole Hauser’s “Slow Burn” Career

While Cole Hauser hasn’t been flooded with large roles throughout his career, he reveals that he loves the “slow burn” it has been.

“My career has been a little more of a slow burn, but, you know what, it’s starting to happen now, which is what I wanted. I’m 45-years-old, and there’s some great stuff. I’m feeling like it’s some great stuff coming my way, which is fantastic.”

Cole Hauser was recently the lead in the movie The Last Champion. He just finished filming Yellowstone season four as the beloved bad*ss cowboy Rip and is about to start filming the movie Panama. While we wouldn’t exactly consider that a “slow burn,” Hauser says he feels blessed.

“Look, everything happens for a reason in your career. That’s my feeling. I know that when the time is right, and it’s all about timing. Being in the right place at the right time, and being prepared. And so that’s kinda how I feel right now. Things are good, man. Things are good.”

Well, as soon as Paramount premieres Yellowstone season four in June, things will be good for us also. Until then, we are pretty on edge to see who lives and who won’t make it to the next season.
