‘Yellowstone’ TV: Is Season 4 Premiering Today?

Yellowstone has launched its first three seasons on Father’s Day. So, will season four premiere today? The short answer is almost certainly not. And there are a few reasons why.

Yellowstone is a beloved Western that follows the Dutton family as they try to protect their vast ranch — the largest in the country — from outside and those within the family that wish to take it. It aired on Paramount+ for its first three seasons, but Peacock recently signed a deal that will allow them to stream the show as well.

The first reason we likely won’t see the Dutton Family on Father’s Day this year is that Paramount has stayed incredibly quiet about the premiere. They’ve released no teaser trailers or promotional material ahead of Father’s Day. The show also recently put out a casting call for extras in late May. A Facebook post for the casting call said they needed people for two-night shoots on June 10-11.

While it’s not unheard of for a show to still be filming when a season premieres, it seems unlikely for a show with only 10 episodes per season. Plus, networks and streaming services would usually give a show this popular the royal treatment in terms of advertising. But the silence says a lot and gives more credence to the idea the show won’t premiere Sunday, June 20.

Esquire wondered if the show may not premiere until the fall, following the Olympic games in Japan. The Peacock network, NBC’s streaming service, struck a deal with Paramount to stream Yellowstone episodes. However, Peacock and NBC have exclusive rights to broadcast the Olympics. The mountain of Summer Olympics coverage could bury the show, even though it is the No. 1 streamed show in the country. Officials postponed the games from last year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The show’s production team also has two spin-offs to worry about now with Y: 1883 and 6666 complicating matters.

‘Yellowstone’ Fans Urge Patience for Show’s Return

Fans have filled the Yellowstone subreddit with speculative posts, where fans try to parse when the show may return. But throughout the speculation and anger, in some cases, fans are preaching patience to their Dutton-loving brethren.

“A large group of fans – not only here but also on social media – have been patiently reminding people that no premiere date has been announced, June 20 was the date that one of the Facebook groups came up with just after s3 had ended (they do that for every season, apparently) and spread around. And despite all that, some people are still deluding themselves into thinking it comes out tomorrow,” one person posted on Reddit. I have no sympathy left for them – we live in the age of misinformation so source check should be a habit by now.”
