There are a few romances that take center stage in the “Yellowstone” Universe but none more powerful than the one between Rip Wheeler and Beth Dutton.
Through flashbacks, we see that Rip and Beth began their on-again, off-again relationship when they were just kids. Now adults, the two “Yellowstone” characters share as strong of a bond as there is on the show. The couple became engaged last season to the delight of the show’s massive fan base. When Rip is unable to summon the courage to ask John Dutton for his daughter’s hand in marriage, it is Beth that proposes to Rip. It is a moment that defines the unusual but loving relationship the two share. You would have a hard time finding a “Yellowstone” fan that doesn’t believe Rip and Beth belong together. The two are taking on a new challenge in season four with Carter coming into the fold. As they both have seen already, parenting takes a great deal of patience and acceptance.
In a recent interview with TV Line, Beth Dutton actress Kelly Reilly talks about the “Yellowstone” relationship. Reilly says Beth looks at Rip as her anchor and would be lost without him. It would be difficult to picture the two of them not together for fans of the show. We are also holding out hope that we ranch-style wedding this season.
“He is her anchor, her rock. He is her home,” she says. “That would untether her to a point of…I don’t know who she would become without that. Now that she’s had that love and allowed herself to fully move into it, and we see how devoted she is and how much she adores him, to lose him would probably cut off the last link to her humanity.”
‘Yellowstone’ Fans Ponder Fate of Rip and Beth’s Relationship
As “Yellowstone” fans know, Beth is hiding a dark secret from her future husband. Her brother, Jamie, is the reason why she can no longer bear children. There have been hints that Rip may just learn this secret in the near future. That could spell imminent doom for Jamie as Rip may just take him to the train station if he learns the truth.
“Well, she has a secret, doesn’t she, that Rip doesn’t know about,” Reilly points out. “He knows that she can’t have children, but he doesn’t know why. Rip also doesn’t know she was pregnant with his child. So she’s thinking a day might come when he might find out or she will tell him. One would say she should tell him.
You might want to strap yourself in, “Yellowstone” fans, as it looks like we may be in for a bumpy ride. We certainly can’t wait to find out — the next dose of “Yellowstone” will arrive this Sunday.
