The fourth season of the hit Paramount Network series “Yellowstone” has been anything but easy for Kayce Dutton.

We are now five episodes into season four and Kayce is somehow keeping it together. His family is struggling with the aftermath of the attack on the “Yellowstone” Ranch and he is doing his best to support them. In a previous episode, Kayce makes a crucial decision to take Monica and Tate away from the ranch. They head to the nearby Native American reservation where they will be with friends and family. Though tough for Kayce, the decision seems to be paying off. Both Monica and Tate are in much better spirits since relocating to the reservation.

“Yellowstone” star Luke Grimes, who plays Kayce Dutton, says his character made the move in an attempt to heal his family. In an interview with TV Insider, Grimes talks about the battles facing Kayce in season four. He says Kayce is looking for peace within but also peace for his family.

“I think just healing with his family,” Grimes says. “You saw that a little in Season 3, and then the whole world gets upended once again. I think that the challenge since day one is just to try to find some peace – in his own soul, in his own life and with his family.”

Kayce has certainly been through the wringer already this season and we still have five episodes to go. We are seeing the maturation of Kayce Dutton, however, in season four. After the intense conversation with his wife, he puts himself aside in order to do what is best for his family. What is best for his family is some time away from “Yellowstone” Ranch.

‘Yellowstone’ Season Four Sees Kayce Grow into a Family Man

Putting his family first is a sign that Kayce is dedicated to their well-being, even if it meant leaving his own home.

“What he’s trying to do is just make one decision at a time, take it day by day,” Grimes says. And I think he knew that if he didn’t get Monica and Tate off the ranch, he probably would lose them. And so that being the most important thing, that’s what he’s trying to do.”

“Yellowstone” fans are excited to see the journey that Kayce continues on through season four. Grimes says there could be a light at the end of Kayce’s tunnel as he learns to wrestle his demons.

“There’s a moment at the end of the season where I think we really see him dealing with his demons in a way that he hasn’t before,” he says. “I don’t think I could say much more than that, but it was a really important moment for this character’s journey and for me to play him where you see that maybe there is a light at the end of this tunnel, at least emotionally for him.”
