“Yellowstone” has welcomed a new actor to its ranks. Meet Finn Little, the young force behind Carter, a rough-around-the-edges kid who finds himself stranded on the Dutton Ranch and, with few options, decides to become a cowboy.
“Life kinda robbed me of my options,” the precocious youth observes to Walker (Ryan Bingham).
The official “Yellowstone” Instagram account has released a new video clip showcasing Little and the co-stars – Rip actor Cole Hauser and Lloyd actor Forrie J. Smith – with whom he’ll be working most often.
“Finn is great,” Hauser said. “I mean, he’s a natural, the kid. It doesn’t start easy for him. You know, it’s a tough trek.”
“He’s not quite the crushed soul that Jimmy was when he came,” Smith pointed out. “He’s more of an innocent, open slate.”
Finn Little Hit the Ground Running on ‘Yellowstone’
Little recounted how he got started on “Yellowstone,” a beginning that says as much about his character as it does about the brisk, no-nonsense pace of things on the hit Paramount Network series.
“On my first day, I was taken to props, where I was given a selection of knives to choose for Carter,” Little recalled. Then “everyone just said, ‘Welcome to ‘Yellowstone.’’”
The young actor, an Aussie, seemed to relish the chance to learn from experienced cowboys and ranchers like Smith. He said the show’s authenticity is a major selling point.
“It was fun working with real cowboys,” Little explained. “Because it’s a show about cowboys, but it’s nice to have real cowboys on. So they really know what they’re doing, and they know the proper ways to do it.”
Little has enjoyed every moment so far. And with his character billed as a series regular, there’s no reason to think he won’t be around for Season 5, too.

Carter Looks to Be a Key Figure in Season 4
It seems that Carter will be reminiscent of a young Rip in some ways, which may move Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and adult Rip to take the youngster under their respective wings. With Beth unable to have children of her own, Carter can become family to the battle-scarred fan-favorite couple.
But will Walker interfere, as he has in past plotlines? The clip released by @Yellowstone does suggest that the fickle bard will also take an interest in Carter.
What brought Carter to the Dutton Ranch and what horrors lie in his past remain a mystery for now, but fans don’t have long to wait to find out. Season 4 premieres Sunday, Nov. 7, exclusively on the Paramount Network.
