From the looks of things, we’ll be meeting Piper Perabo’s “Yellowstone” character tonight in Season 4 Episode 5, “Under a Blanket of Red.”
Yesterday, Perabo took to her Twitter page to share a snapshot of her character, Summer Higgins, talking with John Dutton. It doesn’t look like their conversation is a pleasant one, per se, but we’re excited to see sparks fly. According to her character description, Summer Higgins comes to Montana to protest industrialized farming. That means she and John should be going head to head all season.
“This rodeo is just getting started,” the “Yellowstone” star captioned the photo earlier. The real question is, which one of them is bucking the other off their back?
Summer’s appearance in tonight’s episode also helps us make more sense of the episode synopsis. WARNING! We’ll be talking through the Episode 5 summary now, so you might have an idea of what’s coming tonight if you read further.
The “Yellowstone” Season 4 Episode 5 synopsis reads, “John and Kayce are forced to deal with some newcomers in town. Lloyd is in the doghouse with Rip, and finds purpose in teaching Carter. Jamie seeks information about his father.”
Lots to unpack there. Let’s get started.
What Can Fans Expect From ‘Yellowstone’ Season 4 Episode 5, ‘Under a Blanket of Red’?
Earlier this week, “Celebrating the Soaps” posted the episode synopsis for tonight’s “Yellowstone” episode. Based on Piper Perabo’s photo, it’s safe to bet that the “newcomers” John and Kayce will be dealing with will be the protestors who joined Summer.
These newcomers could create a world of problems for the father and son. The cattle business is in hard times anyway, and adding in environmental protesters won’t help the ranch earn more money. How will Kayce, who’s more of an action guy than a talker, handle these protestors?
Then we come to Lloyd, who definitely feels bad for starting that fight with Walker (and feels even worse after Rip beat his face in). But all of Lloyd’s best moments on the show seem to come when he’s teaching or mentoring the younger ranch hands, like he did with Jimmy. Maybe a growing relationship between him and Carter will help Lloyd find himself again and forget about this drama with Walker.
And of course, we can’t forget the huge bombshell dropped at the end of last week’s episode about Jamie’s dad. Apparently, Garrett Randall used to be cellmates with the guy who completed the hits on the Duttons. Did Garrett order the attacks then? And if he did, how did he bankroll an operation of such huge proportions?
Maybe we’ll find out tonight, Outsiders. Tune into the Paramount Network at 8 p.m. EST for a new episode of “Yellowstone.”
