‘Yellowstone’ Season 4: Meet Emily, Jimmy’s Potential New Girlfriend

“Yellowstone” introduced fans to a smart and tenacious new character in last night’s episode. Let’s get to know Emily, the Four-Sixes vet tech who put the moves on Jimmy.

Emily called up Jimmy during the episode to help with a… special project involving aroused stallions. Once all that business concluded, Emily introduced herself to Jimmy and immediately asked him out. Taken aback, Jimmy didn’t quite know what to say, especially to the all-important question, “So, you gotta girlfriend?”

Jimmy and Mia never really established if they broke up or if they’d get back together once Jimmy returned from the Four Sixes (if he returns from the Four Sixes). And a few episodes ago, Mia packed up her bags and left the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch. So, her character could easily be written out of the show, with Emily (Kathryn Kelly) written in to start a new storyline with Jimmy.

Here’s Where You Might’ve Seen Kathryn Kelly Before

Kathryn Kelly is an Atlanta native who started out in theater, according to HITC. She first started working in film and television in 2012, since then appearing in films like “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” and TV shows like “The Originals.”

But Kelly’s big break came in 2018 when she starred as Angela McPherson in the acclaimed series “Nashville” on CMT. She followed that up with a performance in Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings, playing Melissa Meeks in a 2019 episode. After that, “Yellowstone” is her most recent credit.

Outsider reported earlier this year that Kelly signed up for a recurring cast member contract with the show. So, we can definitely expect to see more of her this season, and likely in the upcoming spin-off “6666” as well.

What Can We Expect From Emily and Jimmy Moving Forward on ‘Yellowstone?’

Over the summer, Deadline first reported Kathryn Kelly’s addition to the “Yellowstone” cast. At the time, the outlet described her character as “a vet tech who strikes up a relationship with a Dutton ranch cowboy.” A pretty obscure description, and one that led many fans to believe that she’d be a Yellowstone vet who got the hots for one of the bunkhouse boys.

But instead, Sheridan threw in a twist by sending one of the “Dutton ranch cowboys” down south to the Four-Sixes. Sorry, Ryan, Jake, and Lee: This isn’t your season to get the girl. Instead, fans will see this new relationship take flight between Jimmy and Emily.

Jimmy let his guilt over abandoning Mia stop him for 0.2 seconds before accepting Emily’s offer to get dinner. And while she seems like a likable, go-getter character who we could easily grow to love, we hope Jimmy approaches this new relationship cautiously. After all, didn’t he learn the hard way last season what happens when you mix business with pleasure?
