“Yellowstone” fans got the moment they’ve all been waiting for in the latest episodes with a showdown between two fierce women.
After introducing us to Summer Higgins in the fifth episode of the fourth season, “Yellowstone” became curious. A question immediately popped into every viewer’s mind after we meet Summer for the very first time.
“What’s going to happen when Summer and Beth Dutton cross paths?”
We got the answer to this question in last week’s episode and it was as glorious as we all predicted. The two ladies were anything but ladies as they hissed at each other across the “Yellowstone” breakfast table. Caught in the middle was John Dutton who muttered the words “I’m too old for this” on more than one occasion.
The insults came fast, hard and heavy between Summer and Beth — but neither backed down in the slightest. Summer even forced John to kiss her as she peered an evil stare at his daughter. John Dutton may indeed be getting too old for this but being the owner of one of the largest cattle ranches in the country has its benefits. The sly devil didn’t do much in the way of stopping Summer from planting one right on his mouth.
In a recent interview with Wide Open Country, Piper Perabo, the actress behind Summer, talks about the scene.
“Summer’s not ready to change all the way,” Perabo says. “So she brings what she’s fighting for into this relationship with the Duttons. It doesn’t work for everyone, but it’s the conversation that I think is so cool. When Beth and Summer are across the table from each other, it doesn’t go great…but I feel like that is the way forward for people to understand each other is to sit at a table with families and talk.”
‘Yellowstone’ Newcomer Teases More Summer-Beth Drama
Later in the interview, Perabo notes we may not have seen the last of Summer and Beth quarreling. Summer departs from “Yellowstone” Ranch in the last episode, but she could very well find herself back there.
“So it’s going to take more than one meal at the Dutton house to change anything, obviously,” she continues. “Meals at the Dutton house often go wrong. But I like that Summer is at least bold enough to start the conversation.”
“Yellowstone” fans are certainly looking forward to a second round of Summer and Beth and it appears we could get that sooner than later.
Fans are also curious as to just what Summer’s end game is when it comes to the Dutton family. A protest against Montana’s farming practices is what brought her to town in the first place. She clearly has something up her sleeve — we just don’t know what it is yet.
Maybe we’ll find out more this Sunday when the next new “Yellowstone” episode arrives.
