Another fantastic new episode of “Yellowstone” has come and gone and fans of the show are sorting through their thoughts.

It was an excellent overall episode but “Yellowstone” fans do have some criticisms — especially a single line uttered by Rip Wheeler. In what came as a big surprise, Rip says he doesn’t care much for dogs — specifically, stray dogs.

As you might expect, this rubbed more than a few “Yellowstone” fans the wrong way. Rip has professed his love for animals on more than one occasion which leaves us confused on why he dislikes dogs. Last season, he said he would rather kill 1,000 men than one horse before putting an injured beast down. In the last episode, he took great pity on a calf that had found its way outside the fence. That Rip isn’t a dog person caught us all by surprise. It was a topic of discussion in a recent Reddit thread.

“The worst part of tonight’s episode was finding out that Rip isn’t a dog person,” a “Yellowstone” fan and Reddit user proclaims. “I mean what the heck?”

It does seem odd that Rip wouldn’t enjoy the company of a K9 and maybe will get more in future episodes as to why. It seems though that the big guy would have a soft spot for strays, seeing as he was once a stray. You would also have to think that “Yellowstone” Ranch would benefit from a strong herding dog. Still, Rip’s admission seems to have weakened the way that some fans view him.

“Never trust a person that doesn’t like dogs,” another Redditor says.

Some “Yellowstone” fans even speculated that perhaps Rip is more of a cat person. That seems a little too hard to imagine but much stranger things have occurred on “Yellowstone.”

‘Yellowstone’ Debuts Seventh Episode of Season Four

A lot happened last night that is going to affect “Yellowstone” Ranch in the short and long term. We found out that John Dutton plans to run for the position of Montana Governor. In doing so, he gives a proverbial middle finger to his adopted son, Jamie Dutton. This situation will most likely continue to fester as the season moves along and you can bet Jamie is thinking counter-strategy. Elsewhere, Avery declares her love for Kayce Dutton, despite him being a happily married man. Teeter and Laramie are allowed to continue in the bunkhouse and Lloyd takes the first step in making amends with Walker by buying him a new guitar.

Speaking of Kayce Dutton, it appears that he is a “dog person,” unlike Rip. It looks like he and Tate will be keeping the herding dog that came with their new house. It also appears that they’re going to name him “dog” to the surprise of no one.

Hopefully, we get to see more of “dog” as the season goes along.
