During last night’s season finale of “Yellowstone,” country star Lainey Wilson shared a song of hers that made it onto the show’s official playlist
She performed her song “Workin’ Overtime” during a commercial break for the “Yellowstone” season finale. She also performed her top hit “Things A Man Oughta Know” and “Rolling Stone.” You can watch the full performances of all three songs on the show’s official Instagram page.
Before each performance, Wilson also shared what “Yellowstone” means to her, especially its connections to cowboys and country music.
“I grew up around a lot of cowboys. My daddy’s a cowboy and I watched season 1 of ‘Yellowstone’ and I freaked out,” she said in the clip. “I felt like I was seriously watching my family on TV because I truly just felt this connection right away to the show.”
That connection runs deep for many people. Some feel it through the characters, others through the premise or location. For some, it’s all of the features of “Yellowstone” combined.
“First of all, it’s very rare when you see people who just love a show as much as they love ‘Yellowstone.’ But also the music that goes along with it,” Wilson continued. “So many people just love the soundtrack to ‘Yellowstone.’ So, when I got the call that I was going to have a song on ‘Yellowstone,’ I freaked out. I was just so dang excited.”
The country star concluded, “It’s been a huge blessing for me and this really is introducing my music to a whole different audience.”
Aside from the Season 4 finale, Wilson also had songs featured on Season 3. “Small Town, Girl” and “Straight Up Sideways” made it onto the soundtrack for that season.
What Did Fans Think of the ‘Yellowstone’ Season 4 Finale?
After the last episode of the season aired, many “Yellowstone” fans took to Reddit to share their thoughts on the season finale. Most of them broke down what happened to specific characters, from Beth to Kayce to Jamie.
One of the top-voted responses in the thread said, “Wow, so they really had Kayce just separated for pretty much the whole season.” Another fan followed up and replied, “My favorite character, but his storyline this season has probably been the weakest…”
Many fans believed that was due to COVID filming restrictions. The less crossover between characters, the better.
Other fans questioned Beth’s decision to blackmail Jamie. “So like, if Beth tried to pin the murder on Jaime, an established attorney general, could he not turn state’s evidence on EVERYTHING the Dutton family has done illegally and had Jaime cover-up, for a lighter sentence or even immunity?? If anything, he owns them, not the other way around.”
Someone else followed up with, “‘Here is a picture of my brother dumping his father’s body over the same cliff my whole family and our branded boys dump their bodies.'”
Will Beth’s decision come back to haunt her? We’ll have to wait until (hopefully) next season, Outsiders.
