The 12-year-old Tate Dutton actor took to social media on Tuesday to share a photo of his gift with his fans and social media followers. Merrill was the recipient of a new puppy and, judging by his post, extremely proud of the “late” Christmas present.
“This Christmas surprise came a little late,” Merrill captions the post.
Merrill’s fans and social media followers certainly appreciated him sharing the news with the rest of the world. Only a few hours after the Instagram post, it had garnered more than 500 likes and nearly 30 comments.
The puppy appears to only be a few days old and Merrill doesn’t specify the breed of the dog.
Brecken Merrill Wraps up Yellowstone Filming
On “Yellowstone,” Merrill plays “cowboy in training” Tate Dutton, a young member of the Dutton family. Tate is the son of Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes) and his wife Monica (Kelsey Asbille). He is also the grandson of Dutton family patriarch, John Dutton, played by Hollywood legend, Kevin Costner.

“Tate has grown so much over the course of three seasons,” the Yellowstone Instagram page proclaims.
In addition to his numerous acting credits, Merrill is also a child model.
Merrill recently announced he had wrapped up his filming duties for the upcoming fourth season of “Yellowstone.” Upon wrapping up his part in the new season, Merrill took to social media to thank everyone for making the show a big success.
