“Yellowstone” fans have a lot to look forward to when Season 4 starts up. There’s the resolution of the Season 3 cliffhanger in which four protagonists’ lives hang in the balance. There’s the likelihood – as promised by “Yellowstone” trailers – that Rip (Cole Hauser) will exact revenge for the violence visited on the Dutton clan.
And then there’s this, from “Yellowstone” star Hauser, who recently gave an interview to Cowboys & Indians about Season 4: A new relationship will reveal a different facet of Rip.
Hauser told Cowboys & Indians that he and Beth (Kelly Reilly) will get to know someone who will change their lives. He doesn’t want to say who that is, but the new character will bring out a side of Rip we haven’t seen yet.
‘Yellowstone’ Star Says There’s a ‘Wonderful’ New Relationship in Store for Rip
First of all, the good news: Beth lives (as diehard “Yellowstone” fans have probably already figured out). And she is apparently part of this new relationship, so never fear, Rip fans, he doesn’t leave his childhood sweetheart for a new woman.
Still, it seems this new relationship will show us a piece of Rip’s heart. Hauser told Cowboys & Indians that series co-creator Taylor Sheridan has written a beautiful new chapter in Rip and Beth’s lives.
“Taylor does another wonderful job of kind of opening the onion when it comes to Rip’s heart,” Hauser said. “There’s a wonderful relationship — which I won’t give away — with Beth and I that comes into our life. And again, it shows another side of not only Rip, but also Beth, and also John Dutton. So, it’s another excellent year of storytelling by Taylor Sheridan, and I’m looking forward to seeing what the audience thinks.”
Could Rip and Beth Take Carter Under Their Wings?
In Season 4 of “Yellowstone,” a new young person will show up at the Dutton Ranch, and he’s not so different from a youthful Rip, who arrived at the Dutton Ranch wild-eyed and coated in dirt and blood. Carter (Finn Little) has the face of a cherub and the habits of a seasoned delinquent. He smokes cigarettes and carries a knife around with him wherever he goes.
Fans have got to be rooting for Rip and Beth – who thanks to Jamie (Wes Bentley) cannot have biological children – to take Carter in as their own. After all, who would make better parents to the wayward youth than Beth, who’s as tough as they come, and Rip, who is absolutely lethal when crossed?
Of course, that may not be the relationship Hauser is teasing. But it looks like that’s one more question the two-hour season premiere will have to address. Who is this new relationship with and what does it reveal in Rip?
“Yellowstone” Season 4 premieres Sunday, Nov. 7, exclusively on the Paramount Network. Tune in then to find out.
