Later this evening we will say goodbye to the fourth and latest season of the hit Paramount Network series “Yellowstone.”

One of the major appeals of “Yellowstone” is its accurate portrayal of the modern-day cowboy culture. “Yellowstone” is a cattle ranch striving for success despite the changing times. The Dutton family are proud ranchers who want nothing more than to preserve their way of life against others with their own interests. The family must fight against several entities who wish to take their property for their own use. For instance, Market Equities has shown it will stop at nothing to acquire the “Yellowstone” property. A big reason for the show’s success is the authenticity it achieves through these struggles.

In order to get this authentic look at the modern west, “Yellowstone” creator Taylor Sheridan has a few tricks up his sleeve. Knowing that you need cowboys to accurately portray the cowboy culture, Sheridan sent the cast to a “cowboy school” of sorts. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, actor Jefferson White gives a little taste of what went on with cowboy school. He says it was his first real experience in working with horses.

“We were really given every opportunity to learn as much as we could and still fail constantly,” White recalls of the experience. “Now, four years later and we are still learning. It’s a life-long pursuit.”

Jefferson was one of several actors to get in on the cowboy school action before the series began. Other “Yellowstone” actors, including Cole Hauser (Rip Wheeler) and Luke Grimes (Kayce Dutton), have also spoken on the experience. Their hard work really shows on the series as the actors look like they have been riding horse their whole lives. There are also a few career cowboys on the show, including Forrie J. Smith, who plays Lloyd.

‘Yellowstone’ Season Four Finale is Just Hours Away

After just four seasons on air, “Yellowstone” has become of the most popular shows in television history. The fourth season premiere in November shattered viewership records with more than 8 million viewers tuning in. Tonight’s finale is also expected to be a huge draw with millions watching.

There is a great deal of mystery surrounding the finale with multiple storylines still wide open. One of the biggest revolves around the faltering relationship between John and Beth Dutton.

In the last episode, John all but kicks his daughter out of the house, suggesting she find another home. The “Yellowstone” rancher seems intent on running for Montana Governor on his own. His motivation for seeking office is to keep his adopted son, Jamie Dutton from advancing his political career. He certainly has his work cut out for him and it appears Jamie will put up a campaign of his own for the position.

We’ll see how it all plays out in tonight’s finale.
