Hold onto your bowl cuts, ‘Yellowstone’ fans. Jen Landon just shared a truly remarkable throwback photo that will have the Teeter actor’s fan’s floored.
Yes, it’s that good. While ‘Yellowstone’ fans are just getting to know Jen Landon as the bombastic Teeter, her career in television spans nearly her entire life.
A former soap opera star, Landon has experienced all the highs and lows that come with the territory. The highs? She’s won Daytime Emmies. The lows? Questionable hair choices.
Posting to her Instagram stories Thursday, Jen Landon shares a striking photo of herself sporting a red dye job… and a sweet, sweet bowl cut.
“I’m wondering what other deleterious decisions I made the year I decided a red bowl cut was a good idea…” the ‘Yellowstone’ actor captions the photo. C’mon… it’ can’t be that bad/good, can it?
Oh, it is. While we cannot keep her miraculous “mistake” (Jen’s words, not ours) here permanently, we can link out to Landon’s Instagram in hopes you may see it in time. And if you can’t, don’t worry, we’ve got an old family photo of the Landons that summarizes the look she was going for pretty perfectly:
The Bowl Cut: A Landon Family Tradition

See the young chap all the way to the left? That’s Michael Landon Jr., Jen’s older brother. Surely he’s the first soul that jumped out at you in this photo. That bowl cut is remarkable. It’s also period-appropriate, given this photo hails from 1978 when Michal Landon Sr. and his family appeared on the ‘Barbara Walters Show.’
Now imagine that exact hair cut, but dyed deep, fiery red, and on a 20-something Jen Landon living her best life.
Again, we are so sorry we can’t embed the Insta-story here. Though, honestly, it does feel more powerful this way. Like the photo version of forbidden fruit.
‘Yellowstone’s Jen Landon Has a Killer Sense of Humor
All in all, Jen Landon’s sense of humor spans far further than her fantastic performance as Teeter on ‘Yellowstone.’ She clearly is capable of having a good time with herself – and that’s all she asks of her fans, too. The same goes for Outsider, as well. Please don’t come at us feeling all angry and the like. We would be sad. And so, too, would Jen Landon, as this was all her idea in the first place!
Besides, the guy currently writing this article rocked a horrible mistake of a bowl cut for at least several years past when he should have. So, if we all need to be angry at anyone, it’s whoever decided bowl cuts were a thing in the first place.
Regardless, it goes without saying that we’re massive fans of Jen Landon here at Outsider. She is, after all, one of our favorite character show creator Taylor Sheridan has ever dreamed up.
Here’s to many more years of Jen Landon, and hopefully far less bowl cuts. For everyone.
