Yellowstone‘s own Monica Dutton, the ever-lovely Kelsey Asbille, had the same reaction as all of us to those unbelievable Season 3 cliffhangers.
Right off the bat, Kelsey Asbille agrees that “Yes,” the Yellowstone Season 3 cliffhanger is, in fact, “the greatest cliffhanger in TV history.”
Soon after, however, she admits for Daily Caller that reading the Season 3 finale in script form didn’t really make sense. It was all too much to take in on the page.
“I remember reading it in the script and being like, huh?” she tells the trade ahead of Season 4. “But when you see it on TV… Yeah, it’s really mind-boggling.”
That’s certainly one way to put it. Fans are still reeling from that explosive finale, and the wait for any form of closure has been well over a year now. And by the sound of it, Kelsey Asbille is as anxious to see Season 4 as the rest of us, too.
“Honestly I watched it as a viewer as much as you,” she laughs of the audience. In short: Kelsey Asbille is definitely a Yellowstone fan. So much so, in fact, that she found herself deeply invested in the lives of her co-star’s fictional characters.
“And I was like, ‘Oh my God, can Beth survive that?” Asbille recalls. “That’s crazy! But she has to!”
Fans are hoping the same for Kelly Reilly’s Beth Dutton, Kevin Costner’s John Dutton, and Asbille’s on-screen husband, Luke Grimes’ Kayce Dutton. Thankfully, Kelsey clarifies we won’t have to wait long to find out what comes next.
‘Yellowstone’ Season 4 Picks Up Right After Season 3 Cliffhanger, Kelsey Asbille Confirms
“We really pick up right where we left off, and it’s kind of a crazy opening,” the Yellowstone actor smiles. We’ve heard the same from show creator Taylor Sheridan, who promises the Season 4 premiere “hits the ground running.”
Another aspect audiences are incredibly curious over is Monica and Kayce’s relationship. They’ve been through just about everything together, and fans want to know if these two are going to continue to grow together despite all their ups and downs. Kelsey’s thoughts on the matter?
“It’s going to get dark and they’re going to have it out,” she continues for Daily Caller. And fans looking for closure may need to fasten their seatbelts, as Asbille says things are only going to get crazier.
“The end of this season for Kayce and Monica is the biggest cliffhanger they’ve had so far,” Asbille reveals.
How’s that for a bombshell? What could possibly top the abduction of their only child? Are Kayce and Monica set to be pitted against one another through the rivalry of their people?
We’ll find out this holiday season for Yellowstone Season 4 on Paramount Network.
