Luke Grimes and Wes Bentley focus on “The Family of Yellowstone” for the show’s first podcast episode, and it does not disappoint.

Hosted by Jimmy actor Jefferson White, Yellowstone‘s first episode of their official podcast is finally live. To kick things off, they’re cutting right to the heart of it all: The Dutton Family.

Jefferson White jumps right in, detailing Kayce’s role in the lifelong struggle that is his siblings Jamie and Beth Dutton. Kayce’s Luke Grimes couldn’t agree more.

“Yeah, I mean you hit the nail on the head. Kayce is stuck between a rock and a hard place,” Grimes offers. “From Episode 1 on. And he always tries to see the best in people, you know? He’s the kind of guy who gives people the benefit of the doubt and always tries to make the right choice.”

But seemingly, “in the world of Yellowstone, there is no right choice,” Grimes laughs.

While many might assume such a “rock and a hard place” to also be his torn loyalties between his Dutton family/their ranch and his wife (Monica) and her Broken Rock Reservation family, this internal sibling strife dates, as Grimes says, right back to the very first episode.

As of Yellowstone Season 4, Kayce has nearly tripled his rocks and hard places, too. But even his dilemmas pale in comparison to his adopted brother, Jamie Dutton.

‘Yellowstone’ Cast Tackles the Hard Decisions of Brothers Kayce and Jamie

“Jamie did what his father asked him to do, and in a lot of ways that changed his trajectory and sort of separated him, alienated him, isolated him from the life he had known,” Jefferson White says of Wes Bentley’s black sheep.

This has a huge impact on the “sense of shared destiny he has with his brothers,” White continues.

“He was pulled in,” Bentley agrees. “He was told who he was. And it wasn’t who he wanted to be.”

This lone sound clip from an off-set Bentley is enough to pull any Yellowstone fan in for the full podcast episode. From the get-go, audiences became torn on whether to punish Jamie for the decisions he’s made, or see the man inside who’s also trying to do what is right just like his little brother, Kayce.

Fans current with the show know things are even harder courtesy of Jamie’s biological father, Garrett Randall. We’re not sure who made the call, but right as Jamie is ready to hold Randall accountable for trying to have his family killed, Christina and his baby boy appear out of his new ranch home.

Now, Jamie has another stack of immense rocks and a hard places to navigate. With any luck, Yellowstone Season 4 won’t leave Jamie (and audiences) hanging between them for too long.
