‘Yellowstone’ Star Mo Brings Plenty Speaks on Show’s ‘Cultural Diversity’

This season especially, fans have praised “Yellowstone” star Mo Brings Plenty for portraying one of the best characters on the show.

We’ve seen a lot of background from Mo’s character this season. Fans met his family early on (which were played by his real-life son and wife). They saw him engage in more traditional Native American rituals, helping both Tate and now Kayce Dutton. And we got to see Mo in action, taking out bad guys and interrogating them on behalf of Thomas Rainwater.

All in all, Mo Brings Plenty made his mark on “Yellowstone” Season 4. But the star himself also talked about the impact the show has on him and society as a whole in a recent interview with NewsNation Now.

“In society today, there’s a racial diversity, there’s a great movement for it. But we need to also incorporate the cultural diversity, which is going to be the savior of humanity,” Brings Plenty said.

Cultural diversity really shows other peoples’ way of life, from the food to the music to the language to the traditions. Understanding other cultures helps us better connect to the people within those cultures. Which is why representation is also a huge issue for Brings Plenty.

“The representation of [cultural diversity] in front of the camera, it’s not just an important part, it’s the representation off-camera as well in everyday life,” he said. Cultural diversity is definitely something we can and should be able to interact with as much as possible in our lives, according to Brings Plenty.

“I try to incorporate it and put it into action. That’s the most important language in our culture’s movement. It’s the language of action. And so we really incorporate our language and action,” Brings Plenty concluded, speaking of his Lakota roots.

‘Yellowstone’ Star Mo Brings Plenty Speaks About Going to ‘Sacred Place’ on Show

Earlier this week, on “Yellowstone” Episode 9, fans saw Kayce engage in “Hanbleceya,” a sacred ceremony. The show depicted the different steps that one would traditionally take in the ceremony. They used the guidance of Mo Brings Plenty because he engages in several rituals like this in his own life.

It’s an extremely challenging journey, requiring the participant to travel to a sacred place and stay there for three to four days with no food or water. It’s just you, your thoughts, and nature. In a behind-the-scenes clip, Brings Plenty discussed what filming that scene was like for him.

“On that ride there for me emotionally, I was really going to that, what we consider a sacred place,” Brings Plenty said. “It’s spot on. There’s a true battle that goes on within us. That place is where we begin to find ourselves.”

Make sure you catch Mo Brings Plenty and the other “Yellowstone” stars in the season finale this Sunday, Jan. 2, 2022.
