‘Yellowstone’ Star Talked About Jamie’s ‘Real Goal’ With Duttons

The twists and turns of Jamie Dutton’s involvement with his own family leave viewers on the edge of their seats.

Obviously, longtime “Yellowstone” fans know Jamie and John (Kevin Costner) clash.

It gets so heated that Jamie will not follow father John’s request that he drop out of the running for Montana Attorney General.

Jamie gets so bent that he murders a journalist and gets Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) to clean it up with him. We also see Jamie ponder suicide as he takes a shotgun with him.

Things don’t get easier between father and son.

What are Jamie’s motivations on the show? Bentley talked about it in a 2019 interview.

“I’m not sure Jamie is fully aware of what his full goal is,” Bentley said. “I think, on the surface, that Jamie’s goal is adoration and respect from his family. He wants some praise for the hard work he does and an acknowledgment that he has a big hand in even staying in the family’s name. So, Jamie is out on a search for that recognition.

“He wants to try and use the leverage that he thinks he has to force that into anyone’s view,” Bentley said.
