What brings two outdoorsy, cowboy-loving actors together? Trout porn. Yellowstone actor Josh Holloway reveals his secret bonding tip.

Josh Holloway joined the cast of Yellowstone during season three as Roarke Morris the charming villain who’s out to take the Dutton’s for everything they have. During an interview, Holloway shared how he befriended Kevin Costner on set.

“He’s fantastic. I tried not to fan-boy out on him because, you know, he is a legend and I am a huge fan,” said Holloway.

But there was one bonding trick that Josh new would definitely land him on Kevin’s good side: “trout porn.”

“We exchanged what I like to call ‘trout porn,'” said Holloway with a laugh. “We showed pictures of trout we’ve caught. So, we did share some trout porn and I feel closer to him now after that.”

Maybe that’s the key to resolving the conflict between Kevin Costner’s John Dutton and Josh Holloway’s Roarke Morris on Yellowstone? They could just exchange some trout pictures and the land-war would be over.

Josh Holloway Said That Scenery Is One Reason Why He Loved Yellowstone

Long before he was cast as Roarke Morris, Holloway was a big fan of Yellowstone. He had starred in shows including Lost, Intelligence, and Colony. But he was never able to play a bad-guy until he landed his part on Yellowstone. During an interview, Josh shared what he loved most about the show, even before he was cast. He said that the set of the show and the scenery that’s featured in each episode was a big draw for him.

“That’s one big reason why it was my favorite show on TV. It just took me there,” said Holloway. “The show takes you to the Rockies. It takes you out there. You’re like, ‘Oh, my god, I wanna be there.’ That’s what attracted me to the show. They create such a beautiful world and do a hell of a job with that.”

Yellowstone fans know that show creator, Taylor Sheridan, isn’t afraid to get real about current events and controversial topics. Josh said that’s another reason why he was so excited to be on the show.

“I was extremely attracted to this show because I’ve had a cabin in Jackson Hole for the past nine years, and I know all of these issues that are being discussed on Yellowstone,” said Holloway. “They’ve been around forever, from the clash with ranchers and environmentalists, and big oil and gas, and the Native Americans. All of those issues are real and they’re happening right now.”
