Trent Johnson of Greely Hatworks has been fitting folks for cowboy hats for a long. The Yellowstone television stars have become one of his biggest clients. Recently, the hat company has shared some behind the scene photos of the fitting process with some of the show’s biggest stars. He shared a few photos on Instagram back when he first started the process.

In the slide of pictures, Trent Johnson shows off the host of Yellowstone characters he gets to work with. From the looks of it, the hit television show has no shortage of Johnson’s hand-made hats. “Working with costume/wardrobe today,” he humbly boasts on Instagram.

He also posted pictures of himself standing next to the biggest stars on Yellowstone, including Kevin Costner, Taylor Sheridan, Wes Bentley, and Luke Grimes. He sang some high praise for the John Dutton actor in his post with Costner. “A soft-spoken gentleman that holds so much knowledge and talent,” Johnson said in his post. “I’ve had the opportunity to hang out with Kevin Costner and listen to his brain work and how his character John Dutton wears his hat.”

Wardrobing for Yellowstone

Trent Johnson gave a little insight as to what it was like to outfit all of these cowboys. “I started going through all the boots and hats and I was like, “no … no … no … yes … no,’” said Johnson about the Yellowstone wardrobe. “They were like, ‘why are you throwing that other stuff?’ and I told them, I’m in the West, this is my business, Taylor asked me out here, and Taylor would not let anybody in the movie wear those square boots with the big gold metal ring on the side, that’s not a cowboy.”

He added what it was like to outfit Kevin Costner. “For John Dutton, I ended up making five different looks, five different hats, and for each look, there were multiple hats,” said Johnson. “For his silver belly hat, I made him three and his stunt double one. So for every person, I built multiple hats for the trick is to distress them, they need to look authentic.”

Aaron Rodgers is Another Client of Greely Hatworks

While the Yellowstone actors make up most of his big-name clients, Greely Hatworks also fits another big star. Aaron Rodgers may play for the Green Bay Packers, but he wants to be Cowboy at heart. The NFL MVP and the future Hall of Famer also get his hats fitted by Trent Johnson at Greely Hatworks.
