With still a few months to go before the popular Paramount Network series returns, “Yellowstone” fans are finding new ways to get their western fix.
It has been almost a year since the third season of “Yellowstone” came to an end. In order to keep the “Yellowstone” spirit alive and well, fans are turning to different avenues to discuss their favorite show. Numerous social media sites and online forums have become the place to be for fans of the show. You can also find a plethora of “Yellowstone” content right here at Outsider. The modern western drama has become a cultural phenomenon through its first three seasons. The show’s already massive fan base continues to grow as more and more people discover the Dutton Ranch. The show is so well-liked that it has already spawned two spinoffs that are currently in the works. “Yellowstone” prequel “1883” is already in the filming process and “6666” shouldn’t be too far behind. Both shows are heavily anticipated by fans of the “Yellowstone” universe.
A big reason for the show’s sky-high popularity is its accurate portrayal of the western cowboy culture and the cattle ranching life. There are several capable cowboys to be found on Yellowstone Ranch. The cattle crew resides on the ranch’s bunkhouse where they spend most of their time working or entertaining themselves. There is, however, an inner circle among the bunkhouse crew. In order to be in this inner circle, the ranch hand must bear the “Yellowstone” brand. Several cowboys on the ranch have the “Y” brand on their chests covering their hearts. Last season, we saw several more of the crew earn their brands.
‘Yellowstone’ Bunkhouse Crew Earn the Brand
According to Rip Wheeler, only the criminals residing on the ranch get the brand. Before branding ranch hand Walker, Rip tells him the brand is about trust. While it’s never spoken, the brand seems to be earned by committing a heinous act such as murder. Former methamphetamine cook turned ranch hand Jimmy is the first person we see getting the brand. It is a memorable scene from Yellowstone’s very first episode.
It has also been revealed that Rip himself also bears the “Y” Brand. Other “Yellowstone” workers that have been branded include senior Ranch Hand, Lloyd, John Dutton’s son, Kayce Dutton, and ranch hand Ryan.
In a memorable scene from the end of the third season, we see ranch hands Colby and Teeter earn their “Y” brands. After nearly being killed by Wade and Clint Morrow, the duo participates in the murder of the two villains. They are then shown tending to their burns from the hot iron branding tool.
Will we see anyone earn their “Yellowstone” brand in the fourth season? Will we learn of someone else who bears the brand previously unknown?
It seems a safe bet that we have not seen the end of the story behind the “Yellowstone” brands.
