So you’ve already watched back through “Yellowstone” a few times, and you’re prepared for Season 4. But in the meantime, you’re missing your daily dose of Kevin Costner.
Not to worry. The prolific actor has delivered plenty of quality performances over the course of his career. And we’ve got you covered with a few Costner recs to hold you over until “Yellowstone” returns in June.
‘Silverado’
It’s only appropriate to start at the beginning. In 1985, Costner got his first big break as Jake in Lawrence Kasdan’s “Silverado.” The movie is a classic Western. It sees Jake and his ragtag group of friends restore peace to a troubled town. The 1800s setting is a far cry from the modern-day Dutton Ranch in “Yellowstone,” but the movie is a fun ride nonetheless.
‘The Untouchables’
This is the one that really launched Kevin Costner into the spotlight. It’s not a Western, but it has plenty of similar themes and some great action. Costner plays real-life crime fighter, Eliot Ness. “The Untouchables” follows along as the federal agent goes toe to toe with notorious gangster Al Capone in Prohibition-era Chicago.
‘Dances With Wolves’
In 1990, Kevin Costner gave us an amazing performance in the absolutely epic Western “Dances With Wolves.” The movie runs almost four hours long but watching Civil War-era Lieutenant John Dunbar mix it up with the dangers and wonders of the American frontier is worth it. He bonds with a wolf, earns the respect of a Native American tribe and ultimately is forced to confront his own identity. Definitely a must-watch for “Yellowstone” fans.
‘The Highwaymen’
In the same vein of “The Untouchables,” Costner again plays a real-life lawman in Frank Hamer, opposite Woody Harrelson’s Maney Gault as they hunt down legendary outlaws Bonnie and Clyde. The pair of former Texas Rangers lead a posse to the ultimate showdown with the infamous crime duo.
‘Let Him Go’
Costner’s most recent film offering gets closer to “Yellowstone” as he plays retired Montana sheriff George Blackledge. Set in 1961, George and Margaret (played by Diane Lane) Blackledge track down their grandson in the wake of their son’s death. The couple encounters plenty of family drama and resistance as they try to get him back.
