“Yellowstone” actor Luke Grimes credited two late award-winning actors for his acting inspirations.
A 2018 Contents magazine featured Grimes, and he talked about the two actors briefly.
“Philip Seymour Hoffman and Paul Newman are two that I deeply connect with,” the actor said. “I understand they were very different, but (they) always felt to me they were telling the truth and played characters I might one day be able to play.
The 37-year-old actor never worked with Newman or Hoffman. However, Grimes has worked with other great stars like Kevin Costner, Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper, and Clint Eastwood in his short career.
Like Grimes, Newman’s acting style came across with a healthy dose of good looks and charm. Newman took starring roles that fans quickly fell in love with him over his work in movies like “Slap Shot” and “Cool Hand Luke.”
As for Hoffman, the actor subscribed to a method acting style that maybe defined his career. Maybe Grimes admires his “Capote” work. While Grimes graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in 2004, Hoffman got his acting degree at the New York University Tisch School of the Arts.
Another inspiration for Grimes
Grimes also looks up to Denzel Washington. Grimes had a secondary role in the 2016 remake of “The Magnificent Seven” with Washington. He told Interview Magazine that Washington was one of his favorite actors. In the interview, he said Denzel was like a “hero” to him. He also referred to the actor as “one of the greatest.”
Recently, the show has taken off in its fourth season, and rumors of a fifth “Yellowstone” season are possible.
Esquire.com reports on a July interview Grimes’ “Yellowstone” co-star Cole Hauser did with Hall Wines.
When Hauser talked about getting back to Montana and getting back into his work, the actor said, “(Director) Taylor (Sheridan) is working on it right now, and I think we’ll be back sometime in July.”
When interviewer Kathryn Walt Hall tried to clarify Hauser’s comments, he followed up by saying that “Season five is going to be wonderful. The way we ended season four — I can’t give too much away, but the way season four ends, I think the audience… will be happily surprised.”
Another ‘Yellowstone’ Actor Credits Will Smith
Like Grimes, “Yellowstone” star Kelsey Asbille credits another big star for her acting chops.
Looper.com reports that the former rapper and actor Will Smith mentored Asbille in her young career.
She told W Magazine that she had a connection to Smith’s son, Jaden Smith. The two starred in a Disney Channel sitcom episode of “The Suite Life of Zack & Cody.”
In one table read, Will Smith showed up and helped his son and the cast.
“He was at the table read — which you really wouldn’t expect — and he sort of mentored us all through the sitcom,” the “Yellowstone” actress said. “It was almost surreal.” Smith, of course, got his start on the sitcom “The Fresh Prince of Bel Air,” so he knows a thing or two about sitcom acting.”
