“Yellowstone” actor Brecken Merrill may play a young cowboy on the hit Paramount Network series, but he is a California kid through and through.
In a new Instagram photo posted Monday, Merrill gets all bundled up and sits on a swing in a park.
“SoCal winter has me bundled up when it hits 63* 😂🥶,” Merrill wrote.
‘Yellowstone’ Star Brecken Merrill Loves Horses
Merrill may not care for the Montana winters, but there are some aspects of being a cowboy that he’s really taken to. Riding horses, for one.
“It’s really fun riding horses,” Merrill said in a behind-the-scenes featurette from the Paramount Network. “I actually have a specific horse that I like to ride. It’s Taylor’s horse, its name is Tilly, it’s black and white. It’s beautiful. I have like five horseback lessons in Montana for like an hour on Tilly. It’s pretty cool.”
Moreover, as Merrill made clear in the featurette, he really understands his character, Tate Dutton, and Tate’s relationship with his father Kayce (Luke Grimes).
“He thinks his dad is like a superhero,” Merrill said by way of explaining his character’s relationship with his dad. “[Tate] thinks [Kayce]’s like the strongest person on earth. He really like loves his dad.”
Of course, like a true Californian, Merrill sprinkles his sentences with “like”s.
