The latest episode of the hit Paramount Network series “Yellowstone” was full of twists and turns that have fans buzzing.

It’s been a rough start to the fourth season for Lloyd as he appears to have taken Jimmy’s place as the bunkhouse whipping boy. On more than one occasion, Lloyd had drawn the ire of ranch foreman Rip Wheeler, his closest ally on the ranch. Rip proves that he isn’t choosing favorites as he pummels Lloyd more than once this season. Lloyd, and his rank on the ranch, is the topic of discussion in a recent Reddit thread. “Yellowstone” fans and Reddit users want to know why Lloyd’s seniority doesn’t give him rank above Rip.

“Is it weird that Lloyd is older than Rip but doesn’t have his rank or position?” a viewer asks. “The title pretty much sums it up. Lloyd is older, prob has more experience, but John Dutton has Rip as his right-hand man. Any thoughts?”

Yes, “Yellowstone” fans had plenty of thoughts on the matter. They point to a flashback in season two that suggests Lloyd may have been the bunkhouse leader in earlier days.

“I believe Lloyd was likely Grandpa Dutton’s Rip and had his time as the leader before slowing down” a poster speculates.

It’s an interesting theory that is seemingly backed up by the flashback in an earlier episode. We have yet to see any flashbacks this season, but fans would certainly welcome a scene from the past.

“Season two episode 5 has A flashback scene right at the beginning that shows a young Rip in the bunkhouse,” a “Yellowstone” fan recalls. “Lloyd is there and serves as a mediator in a fight. I took that as kind of signifying him as the leader in those days.”

‘Yellowstone’ Fans Discuss Latest Show

As they often do, “Yellowstone” fans turned to Reddit to discuss the events of the most recent episode. A lot happened in the seventh episode of the ongoing fourth season and viewers have questions.

Senior “Yellowstone” ranch hand Lloyd was in a giving mood as he sought to make amends with fellow hand Walker. Lloyd hits a local pawn shop and trades his prized belt buckle for a shiny new guitar to give to his former foe. Actors on the show refer to this as a “cowboy apology” and it shows that Lloyd is serious about getting back into the good graces of the bunkhouse crew. He does just that as Walker accepts the gift from Lloyd and it appears they will let bygones be bygones.

We will see if this uneasy truce holds up for the remainder of the season, “Yellowstone” fans say they could see this situation playing in a couple of different ways. It will definitely be a storyline worth following as season four continues.
