For the first time this season on “Yellowstone,” fans got an extended look at Jamie Dutton and what he’s been up to since the attacks on his adopted family.
Jamie was the only one to make it out unscathed from the Season 3 finale attacks, leaving several to wonder if he had something to do with it.
Beth may be convinced he was behind it all, and she may have planted doubts in John’s mind too. But Kayce is less convinced about his brother’s involvement.
The official “Yellowstone” Twitter account posted their weekly “Behind the Story” breakdown of Episode 4, “Winning or Learning,” earlier today. At the end of the video, the cast breaks down a moment between Kayce and Jamie that shows their love for each other remains strong.
“The relationship between Kayce and Jamie is really intriguing,” Wes Bentley, who plays Jamie, said. “They always kind of reconnect in the moment where you might feel like Jamie doesn’t have any connection to anybody. But then you get these moments with Kayce that remind you, ‘Oh, these guys are really brotherly.'”
During the “Yellowstone” episode, John sends Kayce to ask Jamie to look into a man’s prison records. The man ordered the hit on the Duttons from inside prison, but John wants to know who he’s connected to so they can know who ordered him to do the hit.
If Jamie hesitates to help them, then John will know he’s involved. But Luke Grimes, who plays Kayce, said that his character could never believe his brother capable of something like that.
“There are not many relationships in the show like it,” Grimes said of the duo. “You know, there’s so much tension, and there’s sort of some relief with those two. They seem to really have an understanding and a deep love for each other. He’s always going to be his brother in his heart.”
What Will Jamie Decide to Do About His Biological Father on ‘Yellowstone?’
We got quite a good dose of Jamie this episode of “Yellowstone.” Aside from his chat with Kayce, Jamie also connected with his biological father, Garrett Randall, over the new ranch Jamie owns. Garrett seems to have moved in with him and offered to cook dinner for Jamie.
But while analyzing the prison records of the man Kayce asked him about, Jamie discovered a troubling tidbit. One of the man’s previous cellmates was none other than Garrett.
Jamie realizes that his father could have been behind the attacks the whole time. After all, he did tell Jamie in Season3 that if he wanted the Dutton Ranch empire, he’d have to “kill the king.”
Will Jamie side with his biological father? Or the family he’s always known? Hopefully, we find out next week on “Yellowstone.”
