Last night on “Yellowstone” Season 4 Episode 5, Jamie Dutton got hit by not one, but two surprising revelations that can’t bode well for future episodes. Warning! Spoilers ahead for Season 4 Episode 5, “Under a Blanket of Red.”

First, Jamie spoke with Riggins, the man in prison who organized the hit on the Dutton family. John Dutton didn’t know the man, so he knew someone must have ordered the hit and told Riggins to execute it. After granting Riggins full immunity, Jamie learned that it may in fact have been his biological father, Garrett Randall.

This isn’t outright confirmed in Episode 5, but it’s heavily implied by Jamie’s rage as he heads home to speak with his father. But upon arriving at his new ranch, Revelation #2 stands waiting for him: His old fling, Christina. And their newborn son.

“Yellowstone” fans haven’t seen Christina since the end of Season 2. In the finale, she said Jamie could choose to belong to the Dutton family or his new family with her and their son. Now that he finally got “away” from the Duttons, she’s here to introduce him to their child.

Which places Jamie in a delicate situation. Just as he’s about to confront his murderous father, two people reenter his life that Garrett could use against him.

What Will Jamie Do Now on ‘Yellowstone’ Season 4?

Jamie has several impossible decisions to make in the coming episodes. He wants to hear the truth from his dad, but will Garrett be honest with him or threaten his son and ex-girlfriend if Jamie pushes him to tell the truth?

Or, should he tell the Duttons what he knows? Jamie has just as big an enemy at the Yellowstone as he does at his new home: Beth. She promised to kill him (and potentially hurt any children he has after he forced her to become sterile). Can he trust John and Kayce to keep Beth in check so they can all take Garrett on together?

Either way, Jamie stands a good chance at losing something he cares about by the end of “Yellowstone” Season 4. Already, it seems like he’s lost this blossoming relationship with his biological father. And, based on the brief promo at the end of Episode 5, it looks like Garrett might use Jamie’s past against him.

If “Yellowstone” fans will remember, back in Season 2, Jamie murdered a journalist who was going to release a huge story about John and the Dutton Ranch. Rip and Walker helped him cover it up, but now it looks like Garrett knows the truth. The next question is, how far will Jamie go to protect his past and his new future?

We’ll have to wait until next Sunday to find out, Outsiders.
