Perhaps seeking a “fresh start” of sorts, Conor McGregor made a significant change to his physical appearance by shaving off his trademark beard.
The ultimate fighting mega star shared photos of his freshly shaven face this week across his social media pages.
McGregor has rocked facial hair for eight years, according to TMZ Sports. The last time he fought beardless was a 2012 Cage Warriors match against Dave Hill. McGregor finished the fight with a rear-naked chokehold.
He was fully bearded for his next fight and has maintained the stylish facial hair for all of his other bouts.
McGregor retired from UFC fighting over the summer but many speculate he will grace the squared circle once more. Many of the photos he recently shared show him working out or working on fighting maneuvers.
He certainly appears to be in fighting shape from the photos.
Despite his supposed retirement, the often-brash athlete has managed to stay in the news. He recently teased a boxing match with star boxer Manny Pacquiao. That dream match is unlikely to happen as McGregor remains under contract with UFC, per the TMZ report.
Earlier this month, McGregor was detained for attempted sexual assault in Corsica, France. He has emphatically denied the allegations. His manager, Audie Attar released a stern statement regarding the incident, via MMA Fighting.
“I am irate and putting out a warning loud and clear,” Attar said. ” Conor McGregor is not and will not be a target for those seeking to score a headline or a payday.”
The southpaw compiled an Ultimate Fighting record of 22-4, competing across multiple weight divisions.
