Val Kilmer is trending on Twitter right now. And…why not?

Actually…the real question should be…why did it take so long? And, why doesn’t this happen every day?

While fans were enjoying a day of Val Kilmer, many took a walk down memory lane. Posting memories of some of the Hollywood star’s best roles. Among these roles? One of Kilmer’s most iconic portrayals on-screen to date…that of Doc Holiday in the 1993 Western hit, Tombstone.

Val Kilmer’s Unforgetable Turn As Doc Holliday

It’s been twenty-eight years since the iconic western film Tombstone was released in theaters.

And, with that, it’s been twenty-eight years since Val Kilmer wowed his fans in his unforgettable turn as the famous gambling gun-man, Doc Holliday. And, once fans saw the actor was trending on Twitter, they were quick to bring back some of these most iconic Hollywood memories.

Of course, one cannot truly honor Val Kilmer’s iconic portrayal of the smooth-talking, long-suffering iconic Doc Holliday without bringing back some of the film’s best lines…most of which were uttered by Kilmer’s character on screen.

“Since he’s trending, a reminder that Val Kilmer is, and forever will be, your huckleberry,” notes a Tombstone fan in the thread.

Since its release, Tombstone fans across the globe know exactly what is happening when someone says “I’m your Huckleberry.” And, it’s still – even all these years later – one that few are likely to forget.

Even if you haven’t checked all the streaming services – or back in the day, checked all the video stores – for the extensive library of films that star Val Kilmer, most know exactly who he is in the 1993 film.

It’s no wonder that Twitter soon filled with Tombstone-related memes in response to the newest Val Kilmer hashtag. Especially considering the way Kilmer peppered the iconic film with some of Hollywood’s greatest acting moments and one-liners.

“I haven’t seen every Val Kilmer movie,” one Tombstone fan wrote on Twitter Monday evening.

“but of the ones I’ve seen, his greatest performance was….well…You’re a Daisy if you do,” the post continues; as the Tombstone fan seamlessly brings in another one of Kilmer’s killer one-liner moments in the western film.

There is little doubt that Val Kilmer’s portrayal of Doc Holliday is one of the actor’s most memorable movie roles.

Was The Tombstone Role Oscar-Worthy?

While many of his fans were having fun reliving some of the actor’s best Tombstone moments during his moment trending online, some pointed out how the actor should have received massive amounts of hardware for his role.

“I don’t know why Val Kilmer is trending. But man, to this day, I still feel that he got robbed when he didn’t receive an Oscar nomination for playing Doc Holliday in “Tombstone” That was a masterful performance,” one fan notes.

While there were no academy award nominations for Val Kilmer in Tombstone; the actor did receive nominations for the “Best Male Performance,” and “Most Desirable Male” on the 1993 MTV Movie Awards. Not quite the Oscars, sure…but a recognition, nonetheless!
