Apparently, Vin Diesel wants him and Dwayne Johnson to put their Hollywood feud behind them. The action star is begging Johnson to rejoin the Fast & Furious franchise.
In July, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson confirmed that he was done with the Fast & Furious franchise. The 49-year-old actor claimed that he simply wanted to “focus on to other storytelling avenues,” but many fans speculated that the public feud between Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel was to blame.
The feud we speak of began back in 2016 while the two were filming The Fate of the Furious—which happens to be Johnson’s final Fast & Furious film. As it goes, Johnson posted a cryptic dig on social media. In the post, the actor wrote that he had “zero tolerance for candy asses” after ranting about certain male costars not conducting “themselves as stand up men and true professionals.” And many fans believed that The Rock was speaking about Vin Diesel.
The comments spurred a five-year fight that supposedly came to an end this fall. And with all the hard feelings behind them, Vin Diesel wants Dwayne Johnson to return to the Fast & Furious family because the films aren’t the same without him.
“My little brother Dwayne… the time has come,” Diesel wrote in an Instagram post. “The world awaits the finale of Fast 10. As you know, my children refer to you as Uncle Dwayne in my house. There is not a holiday that goes by that they and you don’t send well wishes…but the time has come. Legacy awaits. I told you years ago that I was going to fulfill my promise to Pablo, and I swore that we would reach and manifest the best Fast in the finale that is 10! I say this out of love… but you must show up, do not leave the franchise idle you have a very important role to play. Hobbs can’t be played by no other. I hope that you rise to the occasion and fulfill your destiny.”
Dwayne Johnson Counters Vin Diesel ‘Tough Love’ Comments About ‘Fast and Furious’ Issues: ‘I Laughed’
This summer, the infamous Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson feud really heated up. And Dwayne Johnson thought it was hilarious.
F9 hit theaters last July. And while doing promo work, Vin Diesel commented about his fight with Dwayne Johnson. During an interview with Men’s Health, Diesel said he purposely got under his costar’s skin using a “tough love” technique. And he only did it to make Johnson a better actor.
“I would do anything I’d have to do in order to get performances in anything I’m producing,” he added.
Shortly after that interview, Dwayne Johnson sat down with The Hollywood Reporter to talk about the release of Jungle Cruise. And he had a few things to say about Diesel’s “methods.”
“I laughed and I laughed hard. I think everyone had a laugh at that. And I’ll leave it at that. And that I’ve wished them well. I wish them well on ‘Fast 9.’ And I wish them the best of luck on ‘Fast 10’ and ‘Fast 11’ and the rest of the ‘Fast & Furious’ movies they do that will be without me.”
